i was never able to get into this particular album, i cant
see what the big deal is...

protection is ok though, and mezzanine is
amazing. it just doesnt click with blue lines, why?!

yeah its quite a good album imo, but i prefer protection.
not to sound snobbish but protection is more an album rather
than blue lines which just sounds like a bunch of songs.
never could get into mezzanine, strangely enough.

blue lines is an excellent record.
there are a couple of tracks that wear thin over time.
they still had their gritty wildbunch soundsystem days edge
to their sound then.
sure, it's a collection of songs rather than a themed LP,
but they were hardly thinking along those lines then.

i've actually dug out protection recently. listening to it
now. this album was the soundtrack to my summer about six or
seven years ago. it always struck me as a little too
polished in comparison with blue lines.
but i'd forgotten how absolutely mesmerisingly beautiful it
is.

the mad professor dub version of the LP is wicked too. i'm
really loving my dub at the moment.

mezannine, although good, was a far more one dimensional
album than the first two. thats not a critique of the
songwriting - more of the emotional tone. blue lines &
protection are far more versatile listening experiences.

thus far, i haven't connected with their last LP.

there has not been a massive attack album that i have not
loved dearly...
i bought blue lines when it came out, i was 9 years old so
it holds a huge significance to me as far as my musical
developement goes... the title track "blue lines" and
"lately" being possibly 2 of the biggest influences on me,
ever.
