Yeah, friend took me to a punk show.

Instead of jumping around everyone else, I sat down, which
was cool by me.

Simple note: it wasn't as predictable as I thought. I hate
punk music, especially the fucking loud continuous use of
the snare drum.

4 bands: Slick Shoes, Eyeliners, YELLOWCARD, No Use For A
Name

Eyeliners was 3 girls just going crazy, which was cool.

but YELLOWCARD, holy fuck. This wasn't normal punk. There
was a guy rocking a violin. Man, it was more rock than
punk.

Bought their CD "The Underdog EP" right there. Probably the
best live band I've ever seen, they were playing off each
other, violin guy did backflips, drummer was nuts. And they
rocked hard.

So yeah, I'm a punker now! lol, no, but check out
Yellowcard if you like punk rock, or just want to hear a
violin incorporated in a punk band :p

I knew of a rock band a bunch of years ago that had violin
in it. They were called the dambuilders and they were
pretty cool. I'm big into punk and I like the use of the
snare. Gives the music intensity and energy IMO. I don't
any of those bands except No Use For A Name. They are good.
But are still kinda Pop Punk. IMO real punk has useful and
political lyrics. Not just another song about a girl and
love.

Is that kind of punk even around anymore? It is all a
little poppy, which is fine by me.

I've never seen a crowd go so nuts as they did for No
Use.......man

I know those drummers can do more, they keep such a fast
beat, wish they did more fills instead of keeping hte
traditional punk snare beat.

then again, maybe then it wouldn't be punk?

pop punk is for girls. f'real.

good punk, IMO - choking victim, older rancid, operation
ivy, suicide machines, DRI (well, thrash is punk kinda),
dead kennedies, falling sickness, bad religion, catch22,
blanks77, antiflag...

don't know if anyone's heard capdown but there a really good
punk band, and i'm not really into punk. watched nofx at a
festival once and thought they were awsome even tho it was
10am on the main stage

nofx is the shit, how the fuck did i forget about them.
there's a lot of good punk out there, you just have to get
past all the over produced, imitating bullshit and find the
raw energy. punk isn't a sound or a fashion, it's raw,
pissed off energy.

lately no use for a name has gone all blink esque - they
made some great music in their early years

yeah, they probably need food for their kids. that's not
very punk.

i think punk rockers need to die by 25-30, otherwise they
evolve into lame rockers with horrible hair.

that's a bit harsh - maybe they should just quit the
business. go work in a 7/11 or something.
