How the hell did you learn english, being Swedish and all?
You seem like an intelligent person to be multi-lingual,
correct?

you could presume that I am supporting president bush's
war... but i am really not... i really did sign up for the
army & i am currently deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq...

i joined the army to quit wasting my time with drugs & get a
fucking MAJOR reality check... some days are fucking
insane... others are just right.

i do not encourage anyone on this lovely board to join the
armed forces of your country... but i do ask that you
re-evaluate the choices you make.

aside from the serious/bullshit "oh hey, look at me I'm
quoth & i am a fucking stupid piece of shit who joined the
army..." etc I have been listening to a lot of the Cure
recently & some portishead... that's my normal routine here
in Iraq.

have you seen dead bodies in person?

i wish i was a genius :)

most of the nordic countries speak swedish as a second
language don't they?

no, most of the other nordic languages just are so close to
swedish they are mildly understood by one another. also an
english-speaker could probably learn swedish quite easily.
finnish(and estonian) is from another language family than
swedish/norwegian/danish, and rated the hardest language in
the world written woth roman alphabets.

very weird.

Norwegian, danish, swedish, english, german, and quite a bit
of latin (I'm not able to form correct latin sentences most
of the time, though, and the pronounciation isn't that
good).

and while it may seem like the three first languages are
very much alike, swedes almost never understand what
norwegians say, but norwegians understand swedes. danish
people are odds and evens.. some get it, some don't.

but you are finnish, not swedish.

swedes don't get norwegian. they don't understand that
"glass" means something different in norwegian, and that
"sjanger" doesn't mean "sjunger"

yes, they are. I've been interested in linguistics and
language in general for quite a while now.. I just hope it
doesn't apply to my philosophy, 'cause I'm getting tired of
the fact that all new philosophers study language and logic
based on language. I think it's time we got back to the big
questions.

difficult, that sometimes they can't even understand each
other :)

btw, slavonic languages are pretty similar as well, so i can
understand quite a bit of all of those...actually i can
speak croatian and serbian almost as good as slovenian. i
assume it's simmilar to that danish-swedish-norweigan
situation.
and i can understand almost everything i read (as long as it
isn't too complicated) in spanish, which is kind of weird
since my italian isn't that perfect :) but if i speak in
italian when im in spain people seem to understand me...
