I guess some of you have seen the movie. That song Enid
(main character) are listening to on a 7". Does anyone know
that? The guy are sings something like "the Devil took my
woman".

come on, Steve Buscemi is in it....

It's based on the comic by Daniel Clowes. If you like the
comic, you'll like the film too, I guess. I like both.

hmmm
Skip James-Devil got my woman

I didn't like the film that much. I knew the comic much,
much longer.

the comic is much, much better.

so what was the point of the film? i watched it, paid close
attention, and was left feeling extraordinary amounts of
immense boredom...basically a very boring movie

ugh and the music was horrid...everything about
movie...hated it

Yeah pretty good flick. Steve Buscemi and the guy with the
mullet are the only reasons to watch it. Don't know what's
so likeable about it, just is. And the music was great (I'm
eclectic,me).

it was ok, nothing great, but still kinda enjoyable, with
good acting.

About what, I don't know, but it wasn't bad at all.

i thought it was really sad. but the reviews made it seem
like some brilliant flick. i didn't see it that way, but it
had some moments of truth (non of which involved buscemi and
the young girl....that seemed totally outer limits to me)

marginal recommendation

offline fleetmouse from Horny for Truth on 2002-11-11 20:45 [#00437888]

Yup. I'd give it 6.5 on 10 for having some nice moments and
making an effort. And Thora Birch was very good. I felt her
awkwardness, confusion and bravado, even if the bits with
Buscemi were farfetched.

And that Skip James record is great.

Did anyone see the director's previous movie, Crumb? That
was a brilliant movie.

4 stars...this movie was great. Kinda lagged near the end
but the whole movie is filled with some of the best
characters in any film. some people in the movie have like
a total of 2 or 3 lines but still have so much depth its
fuckin awesome. I like the kid in art class and the guy in
the wheelchair the most.

the comic's miles better, more subtle and character-driven.
film version felt like they tried to spin it out with "too
much plot" or something and buscemi's totally miscast, much
as i like the guy.

is that art school confidential out yet? the comic's very
funny / truthful but how it'd translate to the screen christ
alone knows, only about 10 pages long i think

Thora Birch is hot... i've always had a girl-crush on her,
christina ricci, and ESPECIALLY Joanna Newsom.
