Maddest thing I have ever heard. I assume the creator of this website has a promo copy? If not, email me and i'll sort you out.

I am not a long standing fan of Aphex twin, although do work in a job that keeps me supplied with promo CDs. I did not download it, and in fact don\'t download mp3 files at all. My CD is a legitimate promotional copy. The reason I asked is I used to run a Fatboy Slim site, and a kind person sent me a copy of a promo CD, which I still have to this day. Sorry, was only trying to make a nice guesture... i wont bother in future.

Geezus, you would think that the people on this board would at least have enough sense to be nice to the Promo CD guy.
I would really love to hear what the new album sounds like.

Can't you people wait for just 2 more months. I've waited 5 years for this....It isn't Christmas Eve yet. The present WILL lie firmly under the tree!

Aphex shows with this amazingly achingly beautiful release that he is still the greatest of all.
DRUKQS the greatest album of the last 3 years by far.........

Probably more then most people and the only other great CD i have found to be was Plaid's RestProofClockwork.
I dont like rock/alt/rap/hip-hop at all even though I try to listen to see whats out there.
But in terms of electronic music this album IMO still pisses over everything.
Confield might be more progressive but I find it dull and boring, Plaid's Double Figure is not bad etc... the list goes on.
Drukqs to me is still the clear winner and Im not just saying that because I just found the damn thing and I'm like oh so exicted and all that.....
Each can have their own opinion, and this is mine . Ive been listening to Electronic music for about 20 years dating all the way back to Kraftwerk, Numan, Cabaret Voltaire etc...etc...
Aphex I have been listening to for about the last decade, I pretty well know when I think somethings good ( even though this is not his most progressive record).
The only other album I liked quite a bit within the past few years was Royal Astronomy by U-Ziq.
A lot of people tend to just go for mad rapid beats etc....which Aphex does more then enough on Drukqs, I look for melody within all the digital torture and in this case on this album Aphex is bloody sublime.
Not only that, but its already the most diverse album by a solo artist the past few years IMO....
Every album by whomever electronic released in the past 2 years or so just didnt totally satisfy me, this one on the other hand does totally in abundance.....

if you're only talking about in the genre of electronic music then i'll agree with you for sure.
if you're talking about all of music in general, then there's no way in hell that i could agree with you.

Yer right about that, I meant the electronic genre, but then again I'm a self admited musical snob ( no shame, lol) whereas I think that electronic music is the greatest music going today, but hey, that just my opinion.
It's in my opinion where most progression and innovation happens compared to other so-called genres.
I've personally never been a guitar music kinda person thats all.
Rap/Hip hop ( even though I do like some of the Hip Hop beats in electronic music )bores me etc...but so, yes to me electronic music has been my favorite music for about 20 years now.
The only exceptions being David Bowie, David Byrne, Diamanda Galas, Velvet Underground and the likes...

Do you know 'Constelation Records' out of Montreal? Godspeed You Black Emperor! ?
there's alot out there. just depends where you're looking. the only popular band doing anything cool and new anymore is radiohead. tho you can really tell that thom liked aphex, it's still good. regardless, theres not alot on the pop scene at all that's any good. other than the good old rock bands like STP and Weezer...........
anything innovative stays underground. only untill some band comes alot, rips it off, makes it poppy, and makes millions of others ideas.
but that's the way it's been for 50 years, and isn't going to change any time soon.

Yup, I dont mind Godspeed You Black Emperor at all to be honest, forgot about em ,one of the better Canadian bands that fer sure...
Radiohead I have to agree with you on that point, they arent bad at all.
All I can say is that good ol Thom looked upon Aphex for inspiration for his last 2 albums as he has said in many interviews..
So what else do you like thats out there??
