I don't think it's a CD flaw because it doesn't make that
awful click skip sound, but there are audio dropouts on my
nice new Pavement reissue of S&E. Like at the end of "in the
mouth a desert".

It sounds like they let the drummer handle the master tapes.
"Gary get that out of your mouth"
