Okay, after seeing Donnie Darko for the 4th time last night
I know exactly what the smirf scene is about. Its hinting
at the fact that Darko's girlfriend was sent by Jim
Cunningham has an evil spy, but she couldn't carry through
with it cause she was overwhelmed by Darko's overwhelming
goodness, exactly the smirf girl. If you pay close
attention to the girl throughout the entire movie you will
see what I mean. First, she immediatley chooses to sit next
to Darko in class, and then looks directly at him. Second,
as they are walking home from school, while she is obviously
trying to stay clear of him, she is obviously attracted to
him, and they stop right in front of Jim Cunningham's house!
At this very moment she says that she needs to go home!
okay, so further on down the road. Darko burns down
Cunninghams house, and the next time we see Darko's
girlfriend, she doesn't have a place to stay. so yea, this
is my reasoning. I knew the smirf scene wasn't in there for
no reason, while it does serve as comic relief, it has great
meaning, just like Hamlet and the gravedigger scene. peace!

and the reason i choose Jim Cunnignham is because he
represents the anti christ. so basically, he is the most
evil guy in the movie.

There are so many things going on in that movie, I'll prolly
never discover them all.

For some reason the donniedarko.com site isn't up anymore...

i dunno, theres a lot about the movie i don't know. like
why is cunningham in soo much fear on october second? this
is at the end of the movie when he is crying. maybe its to
show that the two people who taught fear vs love were
actually filled with fear. but yea, i don't know what she
was there to spy on, but if cunningham was the anti christ,
and darko represents jesus, they would recognize this, and
cunningham would be after him.
