Jesus. I REEEEAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYY want to d/l Drukqs off soulseek or something, but i ALSO don't want to. I decided to myself when i first heard about the album that i would not listen to any off it (apart from what warp send out or whatever) until teh day it came out, when i wud listen to it in a dark room on some headphones. Buts its getting harder by the day :( Anyone else doing the same thing? |

What i do in that situation is I download the album and listen to it once. I did that with the latest Radiohead. I didn't want to ruin the suprise of that album so I only listened to it once, that way when I listened to it when it came out, it still sounded fresh. If you're so conflicted, just download and listen to it once, and then get rid of it or whatever. It won't ruin the album. They have album previews on the radio all the time where they play the full thing, and everyone listens to those...... I don't think it's a big deal.... doing that. Dosen't ruin it, and gets the fix so you're not conflicted about listening to it anymore. |

i'm constantly listening to it, sorry can't help it :) but I don't feel like I own these tracks. that's why it's so sweet to buy the album when it comes out. |

HEDTWIN--i suggest doing exactly what you said you had originally planned to do. wait until it comes out and then listen to the entire album in a dark room. this is what i am going to do. here are some reasons... -the longer you wait, the more pleasant it will be once you finally listen to it. much like when you really have to piss but you hold it as long as you can...it's that much greater a release once you finally do piss. same with water, can be the same with sex, you get the idea... -an album is a piece of art (obviously); each individual song is made and composed the way it is for a specific purpose, to induce a certain feeling. the same goes for the album as a whole. the songs are set in the order that they are for a reason. the timing of how soon one song starts and another begins is done for a purpose. you are meant to hear the entire album EXACTLY as it is laid out on the official version bought in stores. that's the only way to truly hear it as the artist intended. if you download song by song, it won't have the same effect. it would be like watching the scenes in pulp fiction in the "correct" order. these are the reasons i'm waiting. same is for vespertine. |

I didn't read any of the posts in this thread except the first and the last but I agree...hold out. I will, why bother with annoying downloads and fake tracks. The anticipation will build, and hopefully you won't be let down. I'm doing the same. I'm here for you if you need any emotional support to get through this trying time. :) |
