Lennon because, well, he's Lennon... you all know my
feelings about the Beatles.

Gretzky cuz he's a little guy who isn't fast, isn't big,
isn't strong, but loved hockey more than anything and
dominated it with brains, and is pure class... and played
hard even when he was on a team with a bunch of losers. Too
bad he retired on a shit team, as their only determined
player... fuckers.

Syd Barrett because he's just so fucking out there... he
meant well but got taken advantage of, fuckers exploiting
his talent. He reminds me of me, I'm probably going to end
up like him, some eccentric weirdo...

Shigeru because I've been a avid gamer since I could walk,
and he's the Beatles of video games, I can't believe he's
still in touch with everything, hasn't fallen behind or
aged, idea-wise... just keeps churning out the brilliance.

Ian Curtis because he's one sad, angry fucker, but without
the Trent Reznor over abundance of cheese. And the guy
killed himself, he really was what he said he was in his
songs.

apart from edward VIII - he made the supreme sacrifice of
abdicating as king over his lover mrs. simpson just becasue
it was 'socially' unacceptable at the time (nuff respect),

i guess its bill drummond (klf) - this guy has always struck
me as someone who's lived life as it should be - do what you
have to, when you have to, not for the sake of others but
for yourself and your close family & friends. read his book
- no please, do, its called 45 and its the best book i've
ever read - witty, knowledgable, etc.

genius misundestood (did i say that?, urgh)

Dobbin's post reminds me that another of my heroes is
Aleister Crowley -- who was single-minded in his following
of the Great Work -- even today, there are documentaries on
Channel 4 spreading shit about him... he was a true
Renaissance Man.

i guess this thread is quite threatening in that it will
reveal a lot about your own self. any of your heroes are a
reflection of what you admire, respect & look up to of other
people.

It's called "Satie the Composer" and deals with his approach
to composition - his concepts blah blah - written by Robert
Orledge, in 1990

well I will say it then: Jesus Christ, can't get a better
role model than that.

sounds funny in comparison, but also ol' Richard D James..
great musician and strange personality.. Tolkien was a great
guy and fantastic writer/scholar.. etc.

my hero is my cat. Because my cat is so bad ass, she has one
dark brown eye and one green eye. My sister got this little
kitten that thinks its tough shit, so she tries to start
crap with my cat. One time I came home and my cat was
practically killing the kitten I laughed really hard and
then had a sandwitch. My kittie sabrina owns joo!

I don't know if I have a hero, but I admire Richard E.
Shultes. He spent a good portion his life collecting
indegous shamanic and general plant knowledge knowledge in
Mexico and the Amazon. I think he was a friend of Mr.
Burroughs. I'd wouldn't mind doing something of the sort on
University money someday.

I'm not saying you shouldn't admire him, but I read that
Dali was a tortured man. Apparently his wife kept him
drugged when he was trying to get sober.

yeh, Dali was fucked up, but just his life overall seems
like he had alot of fun and took the piss out of alot of
things.

i also admire Dr. Alexander Shulgin, just for his vast
research into chemicals.
