anticon's a little overrated, they need some black guys in
their squad maybe they can bring some soul to those nerds

want to to get a lot more though.

i like some cLOUDDEAD and misc. dose one stuff.. i like dead
puddle dynamics a lot

i mean it though, those guys should take off their glasses
sometime and get fun-kay cos it can be a strain to listen to
them.

yeah, the cLOUDDEAD album is cool. still haven't heard much
other stuff though..dose one and why? are brilliant on cold
house by hood.

i dont know about deep puddle dynamics because it doesnt
sound very different from other rappers, the reason i like a
lot of anticon stuff is because its not your normal sort of
hip hop. i do like the roots and, mos def, prefuse 73 and
shadow but I really like the anticon stuff. im not into
atmosphere really because its just not that different.

and atmosphere(slug) is on the deep puddle dynamics album
though right? that name is really cool though, cd title as
well.

early 2003 is all i know.. so really it could be anytime in
the next 12 months

i'm not too knowledgable about the members of anticon or DPD
in specific.

don't get me wrong, i like this sort of white nerd hip-hop,
depending on my mood i like it quite a lot. but it's not my
bag baby! i'm a very big fan of mos def, but other favorite
emcees include j-live, blackalicious (gift of gab), del, the
roots (black thought), talib kweli, pharoahe monch, common,
outkast, nas, dead prez, wu-tang, eminem.. that's the stuff
i'm most often listening to

anticon, especially dose, odd nosdam, and why refer to
themselves as

avant hop - GREAT name me thinks

ive been listening to dose for a while now (about 5 years)
and he's a great guy...friendly too from what my friends
say...they are VERY experimental and fun...the first them
album is GREAT - i dont own the new one...cause well i just
dont - ill get it eventually

if you like their stuff look into these special oddities

boom bip & dose one - circle - still easy to find...great
great great album (on vinyl and cd)

dose one - slow death - all poetry no rap...even more
abstract than clouddead

coulddead - if you dont have it - why, odd, dose doing their
thing w/ guests like mr dibbs - yummy

why and odd nosdam ep - still available on cd and vinyl -
odd samples the muppet show to make a beat out of - hot
damn

object beings - out of print - i think only 200 of these
were made - by hand - mines number 147 or something - its
like a clouddead prequel of sorts - if you wanna trade for a
dub im down!!!

greenthink - why and dose one (who by the way are roomates)
- is in my walkman right now - for one reason of another -
very very good album with about 38 tracks i think (i cant
reach my discman right now) - repressed on cd and out of
print again - again if im your last resort ill dub it and
trade (like the way indie hiphop started)

check out
www.truehiphop.com/atak and talk to mr pminus

tell him stormin steve nieman sent you...he knows dose one
and them guys personally - he may be able to convince dose
to sell you stuff that is outta print, p is also a super
nice guy, and just plain wonderful to deal with

oh yeah

dose one - hemispheres - great hiphop album - amazing - good
luck getting the vinyl - i got it forever ago and its been
long outta print - the repress cd is still around some
places - good luck getting one of the original 100 cd's,
handpainted and numbered...yum

titsworth,
i can understand if you don't get into the anticon "nerds"
but why would you want them to compromise and do what others
are doing? they're simply doing what needs to be done,
filling the gap that they feel is needed to be filled.
that's what art is. you know what i'm saying? i'm glad
they don't go half ass and compromise to please listeners
like yourself. have you really heard cLOUDDEAD with a
serious ear? what they are doing would simply not benefit
from your limited definition of "soul."

eupho,
why is not in themselves. i really love the new album.
it's not something i put on to get "fun-kay" to, but it's
great.

deep puddle dynamics is an ace album. the "speach song"
features one of sole's most powerul verses.

you're right i was being selfish, imagining what i'd like to
hear them do instead of just letting it go and recognizing
that thousands already like them for how they are now

alias' 'the other side of the looking glass'
and sage francis' 'personal journals'
were some of the best cds i bought in the past few months

both were definitely soulful, i would say
in different ways maybe..

sage francis has more the sort of soul tits was referring
to, i think

new 7" single with the b-side a remix by themselves.

the them album is MUCH darker, and a bit more acid
influenced.
definitely worth getting, i think.
not as complex as themselves, but still good.
