Robert Rich's "numena" cd has a 23 min or so song, and I
think merzbow makes really long songs, but I don't really
like either of those mentioned very much.

One reason I like short songs is that it gives the listener
more control over what part he/she/it wants to listen to. If
it's 20 min, you need 20 min spare uninterupted time to
listen to it, and you have to fast forward through 15
minutes if you want to hear the last part. There's also a
greater variety with short songs. I'd generally rather have
5 different songs 3 minutes long than one song 15 minutes
long.

od from perth on 2001-08-27 03:58 [#00026016]

i have a load of short tracks....most of "my" Big Thug

i dont really do long tracks. the longest is about 5:30.

"Shortest track: "Lazer" 1,05 SEC"
1,05sec. is not a song, it's a sound!

rF from tafe on 2001-08-28 02:42 [#00026403]

actually my shortest song is '80F4' = 8 seconds.

Jaffa Kid from Fog On The Tyne on 2001-08-28 02:59 [#00026405]

My longest track was 2 days/ 13 hours and 15 minutes....I
went camping one weekend and left my gear on recording one
note repetitions.sounds alright for the first 7 hours then
gets really boring fast......my gear was melting when I got
back aswell from power consumption had to give it the kiss
of life :)

phexian from ? on 2001-08-28 07:18 [#00026488]

well, i have a track that's about 2 hours long.. it's just
me manipulating the sound of a steam whistle.. really.
