Especially the boat ride, man that's fucking insane.

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-08-25 19:16 [#00025647]

You aren't a techno artist until you've ripped off that
way-overused sample in your music!

Was a good movie though, I've only seen it once in my adult
years, and it was in this weird fairy tale looking theater
with velvet walls and these psychadelic little light
pinpoints moving about on the ceiling. They kind of looked
like fireflies.

Used to watch it a lot as a kid, though

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-08-25 21:24 [#00025666]

THAT MOVIE IS INCREDIBLY COOL! One of my favourite movies.
It's that slightly disturbing tone hidden throughout the
movie (except the boat ride where it defenitely isn't
hidden).

We're are doing a play of it for drama class, only we can't
do it our usual insane way where we grab random peices of
clothing out of the prop room and ad lib the whole thing
with lots of weirdness and clever jokes, because we are
performing this to kids and they wouldn't get it. Plus
they'd bescared of this one guy, who where's pink tights and
a 10 cm long skirt or superman undies whenever he gets a
chance to.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-25 22:39 [#00025677]

my favourite, disturbing bit was when that little girl
swelled up like a berry and they rolled her off to be
juiced...it gave a couple of nightmeres as a kid...but when
I watched it as a grown up I just sniggered at the
naughtyness of the concept...plus he's a Willy Wonka
(wanker?) hehe..actually half my waxploder songs are
inspired by and dedicated to that movie..including a track
called "wonkar"..

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-26 04:03 [#00025725]

Charles Manson on 2001-08-26 15:34 [#00025916]

Charlie is me, don't you see? It's me, Charlie And The
Chocolate Factory is about me, I'm Charlie, the movie's
about me, kill, kill, kill, kill.....

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-08-26 16:40 [#00025924]

Best "kids" movie of all time. No question, some really
powerful analogies not to mention drug references.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-26 21:55 [#00025943]

to r3lf3x: I dunno I never found the Oompa Loompa scary even
as a kid and I think the oompa Loompa tune just has to be
the catchiest most sophisticatedly crafted brain driller
ever ..just drills into the brain and wont let go...I go
around humming it for months everytime I watch the
movie..which isn't often anymore :( my wife banned the movie
from the house after she had had to sit through it about a
dozen times LOL

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-26 23:02 [#00025947]

f.l.e.a: I think that something such as that would be scary?
Possibly your wife is not mentally scarred!! I dunno, I just
woke up and Iam really sick today.... thats bad.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-27 00:18 [#00025959]

to r3fl3x: hair of the dog and all that :(
I keep hearin a pint of beer is the best hangover remedy,
honestly!

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-27 00:22 [#00025962]

reflex, what are you refering to?

Bn1 from New Zealand on 2001-08-27 02:46 [#00025990]

Wicked movie.

Crap songs though.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-27 02:48 [#00025991]

flea: yes yes..... really... I doubt I could even get out
and grab a beer.. might vomit everywhere.. ugh! >:D

Barrett, Syd: Nothing.. my drinking, and staying up late...
like 9am has caused me to slip into a pattern on utter
sickness.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-27 07:01 [#00026038]

to r3fl3x: um don't sound too good, just grab all the fluids
you can..vomiting may not be an entirely bad idea, it's
nature's detox.. take care of yourself and do remember you
had a great time :)
cheers

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-27 07:56 [#00026046]

flea: with this sickness.. I cant forget I had a good time!
hahaa.

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-08-27 07:57 [#00026047]

"You can live in happiness to, like the oompa loompa
doompity-do"

Doing manual labor?

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-27 08:12 [#00026061]

I wish i was an oompa-loompa

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-27 22:53 [#00026347]

I just wish I had dem costumes in my size (am kinda big :)
)
to r3fl3x: feeling better yet?

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-27 23:03 [#00026350]

flea: nope! still feel like shit..I must have caught some
illness..... damn! Oh well....... what was everyone
favourite part of the movie? I liked it when they drank that
fizzy pop stuff and floated.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-28 00:28 [#00026380]

might sound cliched but the boat ride rocks, and the
elevator that flies is cool too
re: r3fl3x's sickness..sad to hear it mate :(

Bastard Face on 2001-08-28 00:54 [#00026386]

This movie sucks. Wizard Of Oz(the version with Whoopi
Goldberg, of course) is best.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-28 01:03 [#00026388]

flea yeah thanks.. cool parts for sure.. but hey.. I think
the best part is when he takes them to where he makes his
recipes.. like he adds that old boot for "kick" to his candy
and the exploding bubblegim, oh and that weird machine that
makes the gum that tastes like a three course meal.. so
weird.

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-28 03:47 [#00026413]

the mofo of a boat ride. fucked up shit on the
walls................. creepy................. there was a
rumour for a while that tim burton was going to remake it
with marilyn manson playing willy wonka.

i'm sure alot of you don't like this idea, but i think it
would be fucking wonderful.

tim burton could direct a movie staring freddie prince jr.
and make it good.

well, maybe. but manson is halairous.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-28 04:35 [#00026424]

time for some weird links..hmmm.....the Wonka had an
everlasting gobstopper which roughly translates to a Jaw
Breaker state side..and marilyn manson starred in the movie
Jaw Breaker with his past squeeze McGowan....interestin'
'init? I think MM is best suited to non speaking freakazoid
cameos...as in Jaw Breaker and one of my all time favourite
movies "The Lost Highway", but a speaking part for entire
feature...hmm I am not so sure about that....

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-28 04:41 [#00026425]

i think he could do it. he will be making a movie shortly
with some director that i don't know his name, as it's some
crazy name. but it's sure to be really good from what i've
heard.

it's like bowie, you may not like his music, but he's done
some great films as well............

but bowie's music is great as well. so PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE
AND SMOKE IT!

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-28 04:47 [#00026427]

Im Afraid Of Americans, Im Afraid Of The World.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-28 04:52 [#00026432]

I actually dig Bowie for most part..he was cool in Hunger
and not bad as Andy Warhol..this Manson flick..he was raving
on a bit about turning mechanical animals (crap album btw)
into a movie..could that be it?

Horse Fucker from The Barn on 2001-08-28 04:56 [#00026437]

Manson sucks catpenis. Do you remember when Mechanical
Animals came out and he was all "glam" and said "I've thrown
out all my black clothes, you'll never see me whereing black
clothes again." Then only, about, 100 people bought the
album so he changed back, ha. That's pretty funny. No one
gives a fuck anymore, he's pretty angry about that.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-28 04:56 [#00026438]

I think thats it. If you ever saw the Closurse Video set my
NIN which I had but sold for some REALLY stupid reason a
long time ago, one video is all his vids, and some promo
vids NIN did, as well there is 1 live video which is kick
ass back stage stuff and live songs, 1 with bowie which is
awsome, and some backstage stuff with bowie.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-28 05:03 [#00026446]

and what of the big public tiff b/w Manson and Reznor, half
the double NIN album being about being stabbed in the back
by Manson and Crap..and then the album didn't sell
well...nobody gave a toss they are creating headline news
about reconciliations...feh..it's all about the photo ops
and sound bites if you ask me. Just saw a thing about
Manson being arrested not many details..was on TV and
couldn't give a toss..but seemed like it was another freebie
media event for him.

f.l.e.a from NZ on 2001-08-28 05:07 [#00026449]

The one substantial thing that Manson did off to the pop
culture was exposure to the girl who directed his Vids off
the ElvisChrist SuperBollocks album..whoa what a talent she
is..anybody know any info on her, what she is upto..I think
some of the imagery in The Cell was inspired by some of her
videos

Dave k from Canada on 2001-08-28 07:24 [#00026491]

I Dissagree, it is a very good movie, but i think donkykong
is better!
