yo, im at some friends house, spending the past week
looking at colleges. Im in Ohio and have checked out
Oberlin, Beloit, Wooster, and Kenyon. i have looked at
university of minnesota duluth and hamlin as well.
basically im wondering where everyone goes. any
suggestions? I thought Oberlin was incredible, fuckin
incredible. I checked out the TIMARA program (electronic
music) it was fuckin awesom. walked into the basement of
the music conservatory, opened one of the lab doors, and
this kid was just hunched over a Mac with this loud note
with all this glitch and fuzz behind it, sounded like oval
and fennesz a bit, it really realyl inspired me. I thought,
damn you can go to college and major in max/msp, thats
fuckin sweet. bummer is that its 36 K a year, way out of my
league. so like i said, and suggestions for schools? i
play guitar (jazz, rock, anything and everything) and do
electronic stuff (max/msp, and i plug my guitar into it).

well im looking for more schools, i don't really know any
besides Oberlin that does that sorta stuff.

there are lots of places to learn music, music engineering,
and music production.

i go to the Berklee College of Music, which is in boston,
however, it is massivly expensive too... so if you are
looking for schools on a budget, i wouldnt recommend it.

i suggest you look on the net. you will find dozens of
places.

also, try electronicmusician.com (i think thats the address)
its a magazine, but they publish past articales on thier
website.

there was an articale i think was called "Making the Grade"
and talked about all sorts of different schools you could go
to for production and synthesis.

hope this was a help

but yes, there are many places... they are just small, and
not widely know amougnst non musicians. but they are great
schoolsl.

I go to UCCB (University College of Cape Breton) in Sydney.
It's boring and uneventful. I don't stay on campus because
I'm a spoiled brat and I need people to look after me.

get some friggin financial aid yo. i was considering
Oberlin, not for music, for a while but redecided. its a
great school though, although it does have the highest
number of lesbians of any university. i guess that can be
either good or bad depending on how you look at it.
