who leaked it?

Chilled on 2001-08-24 05:04 [#00025298]

someone should fess up...not matter if you admit it or
not, because of the drukqs tracks,at least one person will
not buy the cd...plus it ruined the excitement for the
release date to come

reduced on 2001-08-24 05:17 [#00025299]

it was me! no, not really.

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-24 05:25 [#00025300]

ok,
1) i may have ruined the excitement of when you buy it, but
that's only if you listen to it. if you do, and regret it
later, then you have no one to blame but yourself.

2) do you actually beleive that it was one of us that put it
on the net? cause you'd have to be pretty slow to think
something silly like that.

Bogus on 2001-08-24 05:41 [#00025302]

Promo CDs were released so...

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-24 05:50 [#00025303]

which is the obvious answer.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-24 08:43 [#00025352]

Its from the Promo Cds.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-08-24 11:17 [#00025381]

I've heard only two-track promo's exists. Still waiting for
one from Warp.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-24 11:20 [#00025386]

Phobiazero: really? Hmm... then how could it have leaked....
would it not be crazy if they were all fakes?

Archrival from NY on 2001-08-24 11:21 [#00025388]

They are NOT FAKES.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-24 11:22 [#00025389]

Like all those other songs that were fake? I mean it could
be real for all I know, but for all I know it could be fake
as well. I haven't even heard it.

tune*fx on 2001-08-24 15:21 [#00025427]

No, there are several Promos are out. And there are several
warez people who specialized on MP3, so there is no wonder
that they will distribute it with their .nfo files, and
getting the glory. It is great opportunity to /p/review it,
and decide if you want to buy it in your local store or
leave it there for the stupid.
If you get that Promo stuff, keep in mind, that is not the
final sound usually, and in order to respect Richard, delete
it after the first or second listen ;) Right?

Gypsy Moo Cow from Tibet on 2001-08-24 15:26 [#00025428]

I bet there's people so fanatical on this page they'll buy
Drukqs on more than one format. I'm sure Ricky Jims won't be
getting short changed.

radiowerkshop from canada on 2001-08-24 15:53 [#00025430]

i will if i can
rdj on vinyl is the best if you truly love any of his albums
buy the records and listen to them on special ocasions and
enjoy it.
i spent a shit load on saw on record and it was worth every
penny

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-24 16:23 [#00025435]

As I said on the other post: Good ol' CD for me!

gordon gartrelle on 2001-08-24 16:28 [#00025437]

i know how it leaked, hehe
the album is very nice...

chaosmachine from toronto on 2001-08-24 16:39 [#00025439]

drukQs has now been released in 128kbit, 192kbit, and
320kbit mp3 formats. by different people, all ripping from
the promo release cd. btw, i have nothing to do with this. i
wish i had an official physical copy of the promo!! :)

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-24 18:28 [#00025463]

I'm going to burn the CD and buy the vinyl i beleive. if
that makes me a bad person ok, but i can't afford to buy the
album twice in two different formats. i don't have that much
money. but if that bothers someone, i don't mind you buying
the cd for me instead of me burning it.

Sepix from european realm on 2001-08-24 19:08 [#00025467]

just wanted to say THX here to syd !
and
it get`s me REALLY upset when people bring up that "mp3 is
evil" story. i HATE it REALLY. Today i spent 100 $ for some
music.
yesterday i bought an ovuca cd with FOUR songs for ~25$ !
This is FUCKING EXPENSIVE but I DID. because I like the
Music.

But after discovering (on ovucas an bogdan`s releases :
Bootleg is BAD" I REALLY think of RIPPING them ALL !

I am a colector. It disapoints me really what our stars do
sometimes.

Loogie from UK on 2001-08-24 20:56 [#00025479]

Does everyone think his stuff is better on vinyl???
I have 23 of his CDs and I've never heard it on vinyl, and
would be interested to know if it really is better.

What turntables do you use? I have my grandads Rotel RP-850,
must be ~20kg !

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-08-24 21:47 [#00025488]

It is better on Vinyl...
I have techniques 1200s
I'm gonna do the same thing Syd is doing, burn the CD, buy
the plastic.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-25 02:10 [#00025512]

tune*fx: yes I agree.... Im just going to wait for the CD to
come out anyways.... dont want to bother with promo tracks.
The one made official through WARP NET was good enough for
me.

Chilled on 2001-08-25 02:57 [#00025519]

sepix,thats not my opinion at all..i favor mp3 sharing...but
if it means some idiot cunt is going to burn it and not pay
at all...makes me angry...no wonder rephlex is hesitant to
release stuff

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-25 05:46 [#00025535]

i guess i'm a cunt then. i have a ton of burnt cd's. some
bands, like the cure, i have about 10 albums by them, and
only 1 was store bought (that one being the latest
"bloodflowers"). saw them in toronto a year ago. brilliant
live show. anyways. i like music too much to not burn a cd
when i want it in cd form. since i got a burner, i haven't
bought cd's any less though. i've only started buying more.
and that's because of mp3's. thanks to napster and whatever,
i've discovered well over 200 bands that i like. i've burned
over 100 cd's easily. but it's the bands that i burn that
matter.

Nine Inch Nails are more or less my favourite band. I won't
download anything before it's released, cause i buy it all
the day it comes out. I have around 15 burned NIN cd's, but
all are bootlegs and the Rusty Nail's and whatnot. Nothing
officially released I have burned. But when a new Red Hot
Chili Peppers comes out, i'll burn it. why? because they
have their money. they'd make a buck off the cd of their's
that i'd buy, and so they're not missing much/ (that's 25
cents a member....). Instead, I'll buy the latest Godspeed
You Black Emperor, or (doubt you'll know these bands)
Sianspheric, or Beef Terminal, or A Silver Mt. Zion. Why?
because these bands sell a hell of a lot less than RHCP.
Sianspheric (somewhat local band) sells around 5000 - 10000
each album. i'd rather give them my money, then already
millionaries. Now i could just not burn the RHCP album, but
what difference does it make? i was never going to buy
Californication, so why does it matter if i burn it? because
i burn it, and like it, i'll probally go see them live when
they come around to toronto, where they'll make alot more
money off me than if i bought all their cd's, just for that
one ticket.

and i find indie music much more interesting and overall
better than almost anything popular. NIN being one of those
exceptions.

There's also no difference to me burning the cd or having it
in mp3's on my computer. and i'm willing to bet that you
have a cd on your computer that you don't own. So I don't
see what you're talking about.

Now I don't feel like i need to justify me burning a cd to
you. I just think that there are cases where it's ok. People
used to make tapes off eachother long before cd's ever came
along. it's no different, other than mp3's make is so almost
any album is avaliable to burn.

It's the people who stop buying cd's that make burning cd's
bad. Not the ones that are burning and buying at the same
time.

I think it's silly to say that anyone who burns cd's is a
cunt though, and i hope that you can see my point.

Beef Fog from io on 2001-08-25 06:39 [#00025540]

I've never burned a c.d. myself...Its only because I enjoy
the process of waiting for the release and then going to the
store and buying it, and getting the booklet and everything,
and then going home and listening to it all the way through
for the first time...I haven't heard the leaked drukqs
tracks, and if I was given a chance to download them I
wouldn't...its just the way i like to do things.

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-25 06:59 [#00025541]

I can respect that. I just don't think Chilled is right when
he calls people who burn cd's "cunts".

ded_zero from kenosha, wi on 2001-08-25 09:32 [#00025576]

i get all my music mp3 to see if i like it, and if i do then
i buy it, so goes the case with squarepusher, autechre,
aphex, boards of canada. if you truly appreciate the music
buy it.

ross on 2001-08-25 09:40 [#00025579]

i think a lot of people will buy tons of cds and burn one
here and there, and personally, i do this..ive given so much
money to music, that im not going to cry and pray for
redemption for burning one or two cds..i think it's bad when
some people have just burns and that's it (ive seen this
believe it or not, sick)

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-25 09:45 [#00025583]

i'm too big a fan of too many bands to buy all those cd's.
and since i'm not super rich, i'm unable to buy all the cd's
i want. so the only other option is to buy and burn
whatever. if this is wrong to you, then fine. if you buy me
all the cd's i want, i'll stop burning them.

rF from a warm place on 2001-08-25 10:12 [#00025590]

I usually only download 1 or 2 tracks from albums I want to
hear, then about a week later I buy the cd. It's pretty much
the same as listening to a cd in a cd shop, then deciding
whether or not to buy it.
So far, the only AFX tunes that I have MP3s of are:
Cuckoo - I can't find AB4 anywhere
Some MFM tracks - Unreleased of course
Windowlicker - I have the CD, I just like putting Equation
through the spectrum analyser.
A few SAW2 tracks - SAW2 is so expensive where I live ($48
australian)
The 2 remixes - Unavailable in Australia (as far as I know,
and Warpmart's sold out)
Powerpill Pacman - Well, I don't think it's available
anymore
Monkey Drummer - Hmmm...

The albums I've bought because of downloading MP3s are:
Come To Daddy
Windowlicker
I Care Because You Do
AB3
Surfing On Sine Waves
Expert Knob Twiddlers

and also:
Squarepusher - Go Plastic
Autechre - LP5

I will most probably end up buying Drukqs on cd AND vinyl,
just so I can show off to my friends: "Looky Look Look, I've
got AFX vinyl!!! Na Na-Nah Na-Nah Nah!!!"..
