i got to go into one yesterday! -a room with no reverb...
it had all these foam wedges on all walls to absorb the
sound. While you're in it, it sounds very strange... no
direction to the sound etc....
but i wonder if anyones recorded anything in one? & how it
would sound..... we only got a little peek....(this is what
it looks like:

I'm gonna have to try to figure out how to sound proof an
apartment where people live on the opposite side of your
wall. I read somewhere to hang damp towels or something to
kill reverb but I'm no expert at all.

been there. kindda another dimension. I've heard someone
recorded a piano there and made a sampler program. maybe
yamaha...

sound proof is not the same as sound tune. kill reverb with
stuff on walls is sound tune. to soundproof u need dense fat
walls to avoid sound comin in.

did you name yourself or did the media give you your own
name? That'd be cool to be worthy of a name, that alone is
more enticing than the deterants. You probably get to wear a
cape with a capital U on your chest. "The microwave killer"
has a better name though. He's probably a super villain.
maybe you could get some of that "panneling" stuff, if
apartment owners don't mind if you do that.

I would say the word is UNNATURAL.
u never hear things with no verb anywere else. when I was in
there, I even noticed the sounds comin from my inside.
spooky.

well yes it is :)

but dj-ing is sooooo far away from making own music. dj-ing
is just combining good sounds made by other people.

the product of that combination IS your own music/sound

well yes but i ment that i am not good in making OWN SONGS.
i do have this electro thing but it is a collaboration and
propably never finished.

i should try making my own idm someday. we have all these
synths and samplers. what would be the best software for the
rest?

if u have synths and samplers u need nothing else. maybe a
hard disc recording program. there are a lot 4 free.
Cooledit Pro comes to my mind 4 the simplicity. Then press
it to cd and there u go!

read the nme october 2001 aphex twin edition - rdj interview
etc - it starts off with loads of info about those chambers,
i think the interview was conducted in one or near it. RDJ
said he was recording his brain noises, like the squelching
it made.
