My Bloody Valentine...

... is a really great band. I know Loveless is their best
known album, but I fucking LOVE Ecstacy and Wine... every
song sounds exactly the same, the same drum rolls and
shimmering dual guitars and singing style, but I can't get
enough. Strawberry Wine, You've Got Nothing, Can I Touch
You, Never Say Goodbye... mmm, this album tastes good, I
want to eat it.

But they haven't officially broken up, have they? I wonder
what they're up to.

What are some other good similar bands to them, the
''shoegazing'' bands or whatever they're called?

But they haven't officially broken up, have they?

check out low..

as for MBV, it's kinda just kevin shields now, everyone else
left the band. then again, he was always the chief
songwriter and lead guitarist anyway. he's recorded many
albums since loveless but not released any of them. you can
hear him on the 2 most recent primal scream albums. i hope
some day he releases new music.

I repeated myself twice in my original post about them
breaking up... I apologize to everyone for being so silly.
*slaps forehead

Loveless is OK, I prefer Ecstacy and Wine and some of their
EPs to that, actually.

I'm in the Cloud Fortress, trying to collect all those power
chrystals. Fucking annoying flying electrocution machines...
this game has lots of annoying badguys... those goddamn
flying, laughing mini dinos are total assholes.

I'm 44% through it. Pretty long game.

cutting and pasting from an old thread :^)

jesus and mary chain*, lush, ride, my bloody valentine*,
medicine, slowdive, pale saints*, for against, catherine
wheel, boo radleys, chapterhouse, loop, seely

* = my favorites

Loveless is one of my favorite albums ever...but most of
their Ecstacy and Wine and later stuff is great. Some of
their really early stuff is awful. They sounded a bit like a
bad version of the Cramps.

I honestly don't understand what the big deal is with My
Bloody Valentine... They sound pretty mediocre to me. A
lot of the artists I listen to mention them when discussing
their influences, specifically their 'Loveless' record.
It's the same thing with The Velvet Underground.. Nico was
brilliant on her own(one of my favorite artists in fact) and
I like some of Lou Reed's later work but I guess I just
don't "get" Velvet Underground... I like a few of the songs
off of the banana album but it's nothing amazing. Am I
missing something?

'Isn't Anything' is almost equal in my opinion with
'Loveless', but the two are almost completely different; the
former being much, much less fuzzy and droney (which could
arguably be a drawback if this is the style you prefer). I
think quality-wise 'Loveless' is alot stronger and sounds
more timeless, but "Isn't Anything' definitely has some
beautiful gems and is well worth the money if you're a fan.

As for other shoegazer bands, I love the Cocteau Twins (and
some Lush). They (cocteau) are less abrasive and more
dreamy rather than fuzzy, but they are very strong. I would
reccommend 'Blue Bell Knoll' or 'Treasure'.

Try "Texture" off their first album "Ferment." I don't think
they bettered this album and it's certainly the most
"shoegazerish" of the bunch.

i hope their reunion/new album is gonna come out as
something better than a pink-floyd-dinosaur style reunion,
with nothing new to add to music history

isn't most of the new album stuff from like 93 and 96?
that gives me a little hope.
