How do I make music like Kid 606? I mean the beats that hurt my ears, those kind of noises. And how do I change a sample to sound like the one at the beginning of 'Straight outta compton'? |

The easiest way to get distorsion effects out of a sound is to put it through filters. Another way, is to use really low quality samples. When I generate music, I filter entire drumbeats at random sometimes. Its very dumbed down jargon, but when a sound goes through a filter the noise that comes out is distorted by several knobs or switches,depending on your type of equipment. Very much so like the way a VOX works. Much of the really distorted stuff, like kid606, falls into a category know as DARKWAVE. Try aphex's track called "Dodeccahedron". i used to like moby well maybe a couple tracks, but he is pretty boring and has absolutely no longevity. hes got a huge studio and loads and loads of expensive equipment.. and look at his music, it sucks. (no offense to any "moby" fans) |
