btw- i think invisible monsters is by far his worst novel,
pick up choke or fight club for starters, and then move on
to survivor- but i couldn't take invisible monsters... too
much information about sex change surgery, that i really
wish i hadn't read.

survivor of the ones i've read...

the story sounds lame to me though, but im sure itll be
excellent nonetheless. on amazon it says its about some
thing to do with someone saying a lullaby before people go
to sleep and people die from it or something of that nature.

i'm sure it's better than that- they also said that choke
was about a medical student trying to pay his bills by
pretending to choke at various restaurants.

bad by the storyline.

hehe i'll buy it at the store some time next week- good

hp lovecraft and kvj over and over again

i really like palahniuk's work. survivor is his best imo.
but im not sure if i'll buy lullaby right away or wait until
the paperback comes out, as i was a little disappointed by
'choke'. it was good, but after fight club and survivor,
choke seemed a little redundant to me (havent read
invisible monsters).

oh, and could someone please recommend an another author
similar to palahniuk? ive hear of that ballard guy. how is
he?

Survivor is my favorite..

Whoever said that his style in all the novels is similar, I
definitely agree but I still like them all (I am not done
with Invisible Monsters yet)

i just finished reading fight club and was blown away by it
even though i had seen the most excellent movie twice
before..

If his other books are as good i will definetely look for
them.

yeah, I'll be getting this new one in hardback no
doubt....I've read all the rest of his books & just love his
style...

There's nothing quite like the pleasure of reading something
in HB...bit more costly, but not hugely so...and you get to
read it 3-6months early...

(hehe...you seriously wouldn't believe how many books we've
got in this house...like a mini library :)..

Chuck Ps in the UK this weekm I believe...was supposed to go
to a reading/signing but too busy at work....:(...

oops i meant to say 'choke' not 'survivor'... my bad.
looking forward to 'lullaby' but not enough to pay for it as
a hardcover. not only am i too cheap to pay $10 extra to get
to read it 3-12 months early, i just lack the space for a
big hardback book cos i'm supposedly moving to a new house
sometime in the next few months.

FC rules but this new book isn't meant to be that good...
but i am still going to read it ...

on the topic of books (had to dig deep to try to relate this
question to topic)....

has anyone read "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski
cause my my friend said it mind fucked him but it costs a
lot over here even in paperback... would anyone recomend it
?

I'm just addicted to em...

I'll be off to Waterstones to pick up Lullaby & Martin Amis
new book about Stalin as soon as I get paid....

bue yeah, size is a problem...I read a lot on the journey to
work & I've been it the situation recently where all the
books I was reading were too big to comfortably carry
around....

survivor was a great read after fightclub, so I'll be damm
sure to chase up "lullaby" , I've heard something about
survivor being made into a film? has anyone else heard
anything about it? who do you think would make a good actor
for Tender Branson the lead role?

yea. supposedly it's going to be jerry bruckheimer's
directorial debut. chuck really wants trent reznor to score
it but the rumor is bruckheimer doesn't like that idea.
manson also wants to score it but i think chuck would much
prefer trent since nin music inspires almost all of chuck's
books ("hurt" : fight club; fixed : survivor -- and this is
according to chuck himself, folks). also, both madonna and
nicole kidman are competing for the role of fertility but
madonna's way too old IMO.

I like his weird and twisted style, which is probably
somewhat geneticly derived I'de think from his crazy family:
his grandfather killed his grandmother the then himself
while is father hid under the bed, then his father and a
women he was seeing were both murdered in 1999. Anyways, I
like how unprodictable his novels are, fight club was great,
and I can't wait to read lullaby.

Invisible Monsters - 5/10
Fight Club - 9/10
Survivor - 9/10
Choke - 8.5/10

You like these books, read 'Glamorama' by Bret Easton Ellis.

Lullaby is awesome, good read.

I just finished Survior while on vacation, it was weird
reading the ending 20 minutes before my plane landed -
creepy -

I've read them all and I'd say Survivor is my favorite, but
I want to read Lullaby again.

and i've read survivor, choke, and fight club..i'm yet to
read invisible monsters.
so they're making a movie about invisible monsters and chuck
wants madonna to play lead role.

chuck's coming to edinboro university in april and we're
gonna meet him personally (hook up) and have dinner with
him.
so my brohter and i had this brilliant idea to make an essay
or a play in dedication to chuck and present it to him.
..never went anywhere =\

What, do you want a fucking medal cause you live in the US
and get things sooner?

I hope they do make a film of that book and Madonna does
some method acting and gets her jaw blown off for real

doesn't.

how do you get to meet chuck? you're lucky, he's a great
author. you deserve it tho since you've read a lot of his
books.

i've only read survivor so far (loved it) but i've had choke
waiting for me to read over christmas break (if i finish it
fast i'll move on to lullaby)... seen fight club the movie
of course

chuck hates madonna i'm sure; i thought she was supposed to
be involved in the movie for survivor though, or was that
just nicole kidman?

are you excited about the prospect of trent scoring the
movie survivor?

also, how'd your tappy tibbons presentation go?

Don't want to interrupt here... but I think that Lullaby
would definitely work best as a film out of all his other
books. Survivor would be good but it's low key, it wouldn't
be suited to Fight Club style direction... Lullaby I think
would work well with Fincher at the helm.

whoa..i heard nothing of this! is trent scoring the movie?
where'd you hear that? i haven't been paying attention to
my nin news lately..seems nothing new ever happens. that
roxorz!

the idea of trent scoring the movie has been kicking around
since 2000. scroll down to nine inch nails in 2003 on

what do you mean the pictures didn't work...?

choke would have to be edited so much to make a film
lullaby..definately! the whole time while reading it, i
just wanted to picture it on a big screen. the thought makes
me go a big grinny one =D
