Bjork Latest Celebrity Crime Victim 03/09/2002 10:18 AM Reuters Pregnant Icelandic singer Bjork has become the latest celebrity victim of crime in London after burglars raided her home while she was asleep, the London Evening Standard newspaper said yesterday. Thieves broke in to the eccentric singer's flat in the upmarket Maida Vale area of the British capital on Friday night while Bjork, 36, and her American boyfriend Matthew Barney were sleeping, stealing valuable recording equipment, the paper said. "I don't want to make any comment about the burglary. It's a private matter," Bjork told the Evening Standard. Scotland Yard confirmed they had been called to a burglary in Maida Vale but would give no further details. Bjork is the latest celebrity to have become a victim of rising crime in the British capital. In July thieves raided the home of supermodel Elle Macpherson, while pop star George Michael's mansion was targeted in February, and last year burglars ransacked the home of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. In March this year thieves tried to grab a diamond necklace from U.S. entertainer Liza Minnelli while her car was stopped at traffic lights, and on Sunday, British actress Joan Collins, whose daughter Tara Newley was mugged last year, said she didn't feel safe in London saying the fashionable area she lived in was rife with violent thugs. Bjork, who hit headlines around the world in 1996 after attacking a female journalist at an airport in Thailand, is due to give birth to her second child later this month. The singer already has a teenage son called Sindri from her marriage to Thor Eldon, a member of her former band The Sugarcubes. |

i've never seen the show, living in the US, but i was thinking in terms of his musical career. he couldn't suss it out so he persued "acting", dig? kinda like ice cube when his music turned to shit. |

Maybe. I like some of his stuff, and he was making jungle / hardcore right from the beginning of that era so he pioneered stuff. Now...? Dunno. Good luck to him. Although seeing him on "It's Only TV but I Like It" with the Krankies was extremely disturbing on several levels! (Any UK peeps see that?) |

currently i don't possess a tv, but if i did, my college gets either bbc america or bbc news radio (audio only.. the screen is announcements for the school). anyway i don't like soap operas, what's so great about eastenders? |

I dont follow it much..but from what i have seen..It's gritty..mildy realistic..grim..about poor/working class people..and with a plethora of ethnic minorities...a far far far cry from US soaps.. |

i read about that.....i can't imagine being HOME when someone is robbing you. what can you do....hope they don't find you. plus she's pregnant...i'd be fearful for my child. it's just a terrible thing emotionally. much less financially. =/ |

but her equipment or lap top might have music she was working on stuff she is making ideas that is alot of work and sometimes a one time idea that cannot be recreated that is what sucks about losing ones equipments and laptops for musicians at least and i love bjork and her music is as superior as afx's so her work and what is on those equipments are important |
