Do any of you have nights where you just play vid. games
with mates listening to Aphex Twin, Vibert or whatever all
night? Games and idm, what a combo...anyone
agree...disagree? :P

well it would be nice if any of my friends were into afx as
much as i were.. but anyways i often picture a lot of idm
tracks as going great with video games but it just stays in
my head cause im not a big fan of video games

Yeah, I only have about three who like Aphex Twin and they
all like different aspects about his music.

Like one really only cares for his ambient work, while the
other likes his more 'beaty' (I just made that a word)
material, and so on and so on.

sometimes yes, but only if I'm also really stoned. That
makes it 10 times better!

My friends and I set up four player goldeneye to the strains
of Polynomial C. That was pretty damn cool That and some
squarepusher made for a fun night.

Yeah i agree. It's great playing games or just getting
drunk/stoned with friends with IDM playing in the
background. I'm glad i have some friends into this type of
music.

I don't combine games and IDM... or ANY type of music.

The reason being that I LOVE video game music. At it's best,
I love game tunes just as much as ''real'' music. And
sometimes I'll play a game and get to a certain level just
to hear the music in it.

I rarely combine games and music. generally only in the
situation i described above.
for an rpg like chrono trigger or ff7, or a platformer like
sonic, the in game music is as good as any idm.

I'm the same as Ophecks.

I love video game music as well. And yes, video game music
can be as good as any IDM.

Video Game music is soooo underrated.

If only more people outside of Japan and South East Asia
enjoyed it.

Yeah, video game music is cool, I enjoy many simple songs
cause I'm into NES and SNES, that is my era. Think will not
be a good idea put IDM when I'm playing cause it will
distract me from the game.

I do it all the time, in GTA3 for PC for example, there is
an mp3 player in the car, and u load any mp3's u have on ur
computer and it plays em for the game. I also turn game
music off and put aphex twin on. I usually do it stoned, so
its even more fun.

I love video game music too, but after a while I get tired
of some of the songs, and also, most of the games out there
have less than stellar soundtracks anyway. I never do it for
RPG's because the music in those games propels the story
just as much as the game itself, the music is meant to
compliment the game, but in many action/adventure games,
well lets just say it doesnt compare to AFX.

Exactly. Most rpgs (chrono trigger and ff7 and 8 especially)
have soundtracks that i would buy if they weren't so hard to
find. But some action games have crap soundtracks that i
would much rather have idm playing.
