Fruityloops is actually pretty good

Geonime from here on 2001-08-14 14:14 [#00021695]

It's shit for drum loops but now I've generated a synth
sound exactly like the one from Squarepusher's 'A Journey To
Reedham (7am mix)' so I'm happy now.

Geonime: I'm curious, what did Rose say in his offensive
email? (sorry for not sticking to the topic)

Geonime from here on 2001-08-14 17:59 [#00021766]

OK, but first I need to make sure you are over 18 years old,
and do not have a weak heart...

Mr Biffo on 2001-08-14 18:01 [#00021768]

Check and check.

What did you use to generate the []< sound? And what
settings did you use for the device?

fruityloops is very good for drum patterns, but it just
takes time.

yeah i found fruity loops quite good recently, even for
drums. But yeah, you do have to spend some time on it.
I found that sampling things, wackin them in FL then
sequencing and tweeking them gets good results.
Most of the inbuilt sounds are shite.

I just went through a list of equipment im buying with DJ
Fony... and its anounts to about 6000 dollars.... happy
fruitylooping.. ill be on the realz shit.

Geonime from here on 2001-08-14 23:45 [#00021843]

Yeah, go on, THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY. Equipment isn't need,
just talent. Each song I make is better than the last one,
I'm slowly learning all the tricks...

you can only do so much with that... after a while you can
only do so many things. with all this.. you can do
WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more. and it sounds 100 times better.
Studio quality. Heres the list so far, minus cords,
headphones, and plus the system its getting hooked to, my
computer and other shit:

Groovebox MC-307, Roland Studio Pack, MO-FX Time
Synchronized Effects Unit, Filter Queen Vintage Stereo
Filter, Warp Factory Ultimate Vocoder, N364 61-Key Music
Workstation, 6230 ESI-2000 Sampler - that just the equipment
and computer software/hardware card to sequence, with my
studio in my basement.

Geonime from here on 2001-08-15 00:41 [#00021863]

Shit. Now I AM jealous. I hope one day, when I'm living on
my own, I'll have a big basement AND a lot of money so I can
buy loads of equipment. I'm the kind of person who loves all
kinds of music, so not only would I get computery stuff, I'd
also want drumkits, guitars, keyboards, weird instruments
etc. I'd learn them all then get some mates round each week
to "jam" and set a goal to make and produce a great track.
While drunk. At 4 in the morning.

Excellence.

P.S. R3phl3x... if you need someone to pay the rent, just
give me a call!

ross on 2001-08-15 00:49 [#00021866]

reflex, while i agree real stuff is good..you can do
shitloads with computers, it just takes the inspiration..i
prefer being in front of keyboards personally, but when
making music it's much more dynamic using
computers..although there's nothing like jamming in a studio
with synths..my friend has sweet stuff

Geonime: hahahhahhahah eesss ok dude. I had to work like a
MADMAN. i still havent ordered it yet... bu its gonna be
done in about 1 month or so.. that will all be mine. Studio
quality, live playing, and recording. doing it all, and my
computer is involved with .. oh man I can go on forever, ill
have no money, but ill have all that. ill be the happiest
poor man.

Ross: I know I know........ dont worry bro!

ross on 2001-08-15 00:52 [#00021872]

though working with computers can be extremely frustrating,
studio work is like being outside and getting fresh
air..it's much more accessible..

64th + resolution at doubled tempos more; can use wav; its
got volumes filters pans and pitches and a piano scroll for
tons of fun.
and it renders to wav/mp3 and werks with midi. i dont know
why people diss fruity so much. its a capable sequencer.

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-15 00:57 [#00021881]

yes.. with all the shit iam getting.. which is ... a lot.
you can still use something like ACID PRO or something cheap
to sequence all your shit. . its just that after tinkering
with and buying all this shit, i cannot ever start to even
think of going back to strictly a computer.

Geonime from here on 2001-08-15 01:00 [#00021883]

I love the idea of having a vocoder. Me and my sister have
recently thought about the idea of making a pop/dance song.
Dance is piss-easy to make, and she has a pretty good
singing voice... but, oh man, a vocoder would be brilliant.
If I had one I'd mess about with it all day. How do they
work, exactly?

-a from --- on 2001-08-15 02:41 [#00021901]

I personally think that if one wants to make really good
tracks then it's best to mix hardware with software
applications.
