i'm searching for good allrounder headphones for mastering and mixdown, i've just got 2 eltax consumer boxes, a selfmade 200 watt box and a 60 watt box on my table. maybe good monitors would do the job too. but actually i'm searching good headphones...

I think Sennhesiser are generally considered the best out there...prices are pretty high tho but they do some cheaper models that are still pretty sharp...
Altho I've recently got a nice pair of Technics phones that have a very nice warm sound...and very comfortable to wear for a long period (a lot of phones are very heavy which tends to be too obstrusive)...but perhaps not that good if you want a fairly flat sound for monitoring/mastering....
but like most audio stuff, it's all fairly subjective so probably best to get yourself down to a decent hifi/music shop & see what suits you best....

Also try Beyer Dynamics. Mine are awesome sounding with great comfort.
Anyway, u shouldn't master with headphones. Headphns are not stereo, they're binaural. Also phase cancellation never happens on phones.

i just have AKG's at home, and they're more for classical music (good for high frequencies) thx for the tip. so which monitors would you recommend ? it's just a homestudio, not a professional recording studio, no vocal recording and so on...

Being a trained audio engineer, I recommend Sennheiser aswell. AKG would be a solid choice too.
