yeah, its overrated though. its only a little different than dj shadow because of the 3 tracks with rapping and a few other tracks that are a little different. 1 song on it sounds EXACTLY like dj shadow from endtroducing. if you didnt know it was rjd2 youd think it was shadow. still a good album though.

Maybe it will make up for the lame 'Private Press'.

I just think it sounds crap. I wasn't against a change in direction but he just sounds he's moved back. Compared to a lot of stuff it just sounds dated. There are a few tracks I like but as an album I was totally disappointed. The skits are also really annoying. While Endtroducing sounded years ahead, and still does, this just sounds tired.

tracks 1 and 14 are ok first listen but then they just get in the way. track2 or 3 cant remember which on rjd2 is the same sorta speaking thing, its annoying too.

The vocal samples/dialogue on Endtroducing were spare, well placed and added to the mood of the tracks. I must have heard them a million times but they always sound good. Hopefully he'll return to form in the future as he's a talented guy.
BTW that vocal sample on one of the last tracks is awful. It sounds like its lifted from a dodgy AOR song.

at least the songs sound different on private press. on dead ringer nearly every song sounds exactly the same.
mr. lif is good.
el-p is my favorite on this label, then aesop rock.
