I think they should actually screen police officers before
the join, to see if the will stay emotionally detached,

Kind of reminds me of the time an insane police officer
picked me up and had me detained in the hospital for several
hours (he was pushing for a week lock-up) because I was
looking for my lost purse 'in an overly concerned manner'.
We figured he was trying to meet some quota.
