digiphex from philly on 2001-08-12 20:12 [#00021317]

I bought that compilation yesterday and alot of the songs
are pretty cool but wasn't really what i was expecting even
though it its not bad at all. does any one have any comments
on the brain dance coincidence?

VAMPIRE ANGEL from San Juan,Puerto Rico on 2001-08-12 21:18 [#00021326]

For me,it is a hell of a good compilation, got it last
month,it even has a track of tom jenkinson as chaos ad,one
of his aliases before squarepusher. It also has a good
version of Baby ford' Normal, brilliantly remixed by
AFX.Early U-ziq,bochum welt,even The gentle people,i think
is such an awesome compilation.Got the best of all of
Rephlex' artist, who are now, well known thax to RDJ,in their
early/some of them experimental starting stage of their
carees........Recomended,in my personal opinion............

I thought some of the Braindance CD was pretty weak, there
were some strange choices on there. It's good, but not the
classic it could have been.

Chilled on 2001-08-13 18:43 [#00021536]

the only track i disapproved of was the vibert
simmonds...sorry luke...

journey was the best track on there...fuckin chill to the
max..

while we're on the subject, are there any other compilations
like braindance coincidence which offer the breadth and
diversity of all the different styles of IDM? BC is one of
my favourite CDs, and I want more like it.

Digiphex from philly on 2001-08-14 17:28 [#00021754]

yeah, there are lots of albums that have tons of diversity
in compilations, such as warp remixes+3 or wapr routine.
check them out good stuff by plaid squarepusher, aphextwin,
boards of cananda etc etc

zetre on 2001-08-14 20:10 [#00021800]

Clicks and Cuts 1&2 on Mille Platteaux. Kinda on another tip
but anyhow good comps to see what´s hip hop and happening.

Cheers. I'll check them out.

The Braindance coincidence is the first rephlex cd other
than afx or caustic window that i bought and it has directed
me towards a lot of great music.

My fave tracks are Glass Room by DMX Krew, Rewind by Cylob,
Swan Vesta by Mu-ziq, Death to the natives by Bogdan,
Fortune Green by Bochum Welt, Afternoon Girl by Ovuca, and
of course the AFX Herston Flora Mix of Normal.

i just bought it. i fucking can't stand that gentle people
track -- why are they on rephlex? just sounds like some
stupid thievery corporation lounge nonsense. the very
definition of bad white dance music. rest of the cd's
pretty dope

Digiphex from philly on 2001-08-15 01:11 [#00021886]

I like that dmx krew song on the brain dance comp quite a
bit also organ grinder, at first it was a little strange but
it has really grown on me, ever since I heard what dmx krew
was all about-the 80's electro I wasn't sure if I should
pick any thing up by them but now I want to, oh and ibiza
anthems vol 4 has death to the natives on it you should
check it out some pretty cool tracks on there, and king
stacy is real good from ovuca. I wonder how wasted sunday
is? oh and I haven't listened to lobster tracks yet, but
that is also something I want to check out.

Xanatos from NYC on 2002-01-06 23:39 [#00066723]

I like it a lot...the gentle people track is garbage but
most of it is nice mellow stuff.

Rob.E. from London on 2002-01-06 23:55 [#00066726]

Good all-round compilation,my favourites being Bogdan,Ovuca
and D'Arcangelo. }:>
