while peoples avatars are interesting and show a side to the person. the impression i get is from what i see them type out and post on ze board. doesn't matter what they look like, if i know or not, it's the caliber of what they are saying. looks don't make any difference to me, learned long ago that looks fade and whats below the surface is ultimately more interesting and lasting! |

Well, the thing is that I think your avatar can with some people say so much about them. However its not a very insightful thing sometimes because it only shows one side of a person. Granted, many people may be happy all the time or others grumpy but myself and I would suspect most on this board just aren't like that. You need to spend time with an individual to get to know what they're like, and although friendships have been made on this board, for people like newbies they could see the avatar and just think the person is silly. since the avatar is so one sided in comparison to written text, I think its much more suitable to just have the text, so you can communicate your emotions at the given time (is lecouer never grumpy?). Then again, its a catch 22 because even having a blank avatar could say something |
