just got the new morcheeba CD (out through warner records)
and it will not play on my computer, only my stereo ....
WTF! does anyone know how to bypass this copy protection?

No software sollutions yet, but you can connect your stereo
to your PC and rip it on your HDD.

offline Jedy from dublin (Ireland) on 2002-08-16 13:46 [#00352354]

no, i won't.
i can't get the article that i read that.
doing this you'll skip the protection track
search on google for an accurate instruction

I've read about that too... You should also email the label
and tell them that you feel your consumer rights have been
violated because you have legally bought the media and the
proper player but can't play it. Not that they'll give a
shit, but many emails can do wonders.

infact the best solution is to don't buy protected cd, then
they may realise

yes, but how can you tell which one is protected

i got aileron by rotor+, and its not working if i put it
into cd-rom
doesn't have any audio files on it, only 2 videos-and the
music from these two videos is not the same music to one
that is played in normal cd player

appeared on the web yet.

I was to understand that on the CD half way thru the tracks
a clear mirror of a 4mm thick line would be there, now I'm
told if you colour that in with a marker it will work in a
PC but I've not tried this yet so I dunno.

Ok, I have a Scooter single with Copy protection on, I can't
play it on my PC. The deal is I colour the line in with a
marker and if it works i'll tell you tonight.

And if it dont and fucks my CD i'll cry. :)

Dude, If you want me to try it then insult my personal taste
maybe I won't.

I've been into Scooter since 1994 so I hold a place in my
heart for them, I have loads upon loads of CD's by them and
wasting a £7 import is not my bag.

offline Jedy from dublin (Ireland) on 2002-08-16 15:46 [#00352594]

ok sorry ijust can't stand him

btw before you try search on google and if it doesn't work
just erase the line and the cd will work again

HP is a fucking wonder. The guy has such style and he
developed everything he has from nothing. Rick the enginear
is also amazing with music.

OK, Logical song? not that good but Dancing in the
moonlight? wow!! She said? again, wonderful. You cant judge
them on singles.

I'll try it for you but diss Scooter and you diss me. };)

I'd return these defective CDs to the store after making an
analog copy.

if it fucks up try removing it with alcohol (95% rubbing
alcohol stuff... i dont mean beer here)

offline Jedy from dublin (Ireland) on 2002-08-16 16:30 [#00352660]

is kinda hard to get pure alcohol in some parts of europe
cos the people drink it
so they make it illegal

thats it, tape it.
then take it back to the shop, tell them you listen to your
music on your home computer entertainment system and it
will NOT work.
money back and buy something else

I read this article on what to do. Supposedly just look to
see where the tracks are written on the disc, and just
black-out everything after that. Or you could just do a
search on Google or something for "Copyright Protected Cd's"
or something...

offline dan7250 from Osaka (Japan) on 2002-08-17 05:42 [#00353691]

yeah. i downloaded some tracks to make sure i wanted to buy
it first, then i did and it didn't fucking work! so pissed.
oh well. i am gonna e-mail the fucking band and tell them
how crap it is and they should stop doing it (and the record
company)!

replacing iosubsys.dll also does solve the problem (it did
it for druqks) though this caused other problems.
i changed back after ripping, i found it somewhere at
gamecopyworld

I got a marker and carefully coloured in that silver line
half way down the track space that runs around the CD. I put
it in my old drive and nothing happened, put it in my writer
(much newer drive) and it worked fine. I’m going to rip
the CD and pirate it loads now. Well not really but this
does seem to work anyway.

The was an article about that pen-tricks in a newspaper,
thet said it was just bollocks. Apparently the journalist
tried it himself.

Dude, I put the marker around and it worked in my writer.
I'm not shitting you. I never trust a newspaper anyway.

It does really work, but only on one type of copy protection
- there are 2 or 3 different kinds in common use.
