Me again =)

I've heard various things around the board about
"singer/songwriters". What I've heard about your thoughts on
them so far were generally negative.

What's up with that? Meaning, what is it about them that
yall dislike? Is it just "not your style" or is it something
else?

Right now I do a lot of that at home, I haven't actually
considered producing anything or whatnot, it's just
something I do, but various statements caught my attention,
and since I mostly value the opinions I get here, I thought
I'd get some!

Thanks...

Perfect. So do you have any thoughts you'd like to share
with me about chicks who write songs and sing them that
don't have anything to do with physical anatomy?

Maybe its coz they are 'ten-a-penny'?,and an obvious
route/formula to success.

I'm listening to Sophie.B.Hawkins,right now on my
headphones,so i haven't a problem!

Good reason indeed. Isn't that the consensus with most
musicians though? Very few are actually "original" in their
work, and when they are, they're rarely accepted by the
masses (not that that really concerns me, if the masses
don't like originality, screw them, I'm just saying...) So
what can be done to make your stuff better than that of
others in the same genre?

i like pj harvey

i liked elastica when they were around, and they were mostly
females.

its true though, that there are more successful male artists
than female, in the music that i like.

Some might change the formula slightly...adding 'dance
beats',collaborations with people who you wouldn't expect
them to do a collaboration with(!)..that kinda thing.Am i
making sense Jabizzy?

well I LOVE PJ Harvey, but I don't really see her as a
singer/songwriter (maybe because she isn't all guitar all of
the time)..

I also LOVE Kristin Hersh, who is a singer/songwriter, I
guess.

things like Jewel though, I would say a hardy and
reverberating N O to.
