I was hoping that a few of you guys would be a able to
answer a windows question. I empty my temporary internet
files folder on a regular basis but I've never done emptied
the TEMP folder. Is this something that should be done or
should I not mess with this. thanks to all who reply.

Yeah you can empty that fine. also .chk files can go too.

I'm more Amiga myself tho.

Also, you can delete cookies if you don't want to be caught
surfing for porn. Also History.

Hmm, I'm not an expert, but cookies should not have anything
to do with programs. They are given to you by websites you
visit so they have an information on you the next time you
visit....

Delete the contents, not the folder.

it says the folder cookies is a systems folder. if you
delete it windows or another program may not work correctly.
would you like to send cookies to the recycle bin? I feel
like I've got my finger on a bomb.

or delete them from within IE itself...

Theres a delete cookies option...under Tools/Internet
Options...

That's the safest way of doing it....

Temp folder contains temp files from your local drive. You
can delete the content but not the actual folder.

Internet Temp contains temporary files from the internet.
Again you can delete the content but not the actual folder.

Perceptor: no, I don't want you to suffer... Unless it
involves a black-haired, latex-clothed, spiky-heals wearing
domina and you can tape it on a video and send it over to
me.

Otherwise, I'm pretty dumb and ignorant when it comes to
computers, so what the hell was I doing giving you an advice
in the first place is a mystery...

In the folders....you can delete any notepad file but not
the windows icon files as they are the core programme for
running the cookie/temp int file system!
Just go to COntrol Panel>Int Options>Dele Temp Int
Files>Tick Dele all offline contect.......ok
Then (If you have Win ME) - Delete cookies.
