IS "TWO TOWERS" TITLE INSENSITIVE? May9.-Some movie fans are blasting the next "Lord of the rings" flick,charging that it exploits the world trade centre tragedy.The next installment in the series is called "The Two Towers",and a group calling itself Those Affected By September 11 is potitioning director Peter Jackson and studio New Line Cinema to change the name "to something less offensive". "The title is clearly meant to refer to the attacks on the world trade centre," notes the petition posted at petitiononline.com and signed by more than 1,200 people "it is unforgivable that this should be allowed to happen". The title is actually the name of the second book in the J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy on which the films are based,but even when this was pointed out to the petitioners,they maintained that the title of the film should be changed. Some people,however,left comments on the petition suggesting that the petitioners are overreacting"I think that they should rename New York too,because every time I hear "New York"it makes me think of that day,and it makes me cry" noted one."That and the words "world","trade"and"centre" should be removed from our language as well." " New Line didn`t respond to requests for comment,but Jackson has said that after the Sept.11 attacks,he considered changing the name of the second film,but decided against it saying,"Tolkien fans would kill us." Lets rename New York as Trumpton , as the new name won't remind me of what happened there on Sept 11th . Lets rename George Bush as Basil Brush so we forget it quicker too. In fact lets have two successive September 10ths ; Sept 10th part I and Sept 10th part II , followed by September 12th. Or just rename September as "Neverremember". what do U think ? |

world trade center thing was bollucks anyway, about 2000 people died, everyone makes it out as if it was a fucking humanitarian disaster. im not being insensitive, of course my heart goes out to all the people who lost a friend/relative in the attack, and i know any number of poeple dying in such a horrific way is shocking, but there are thousands more kids dying of famine in africa and half a million kids dead due to US sanctions in iraq etc. we should concentrate on these also. however we ever hear about is sep.11 i dont mean to offend anyone and anyway tolkien wrote them books ages ago. |

besides, they come by two; the twin black towers and the twin white towers! it's 2x more affecting for the victims! horror. banish chess game! we should banish every word with to 'l's, too. the word "parallelogram", for example, should be renamed to "paralelogram". because the two 'l's look like two towers. and we shouldn't put any double exclamation marks (!!), they're even worse because they show two towers with a gap into both of them, symbolizing the impacts of the planes! |

to be "the gayest fucking thing in the entire world" would mean that it was so fucking gay you had to invent a new kind of way to say that it was "the gayest fucking thing in the entire world". now, with my friends and i, if you were to meet us, nothing we'd say would make any sense to you because we mostly communicate with inside jokes. one of them is how we came up with levels of "gayness". first, of course, it starts off with "gay". second, obviously, "fucking gay". next, here's where it might get tricky, "to the brim". and lastly, "to the brim and overflowing". assuming you already know how and when to use the terms "gay" and "fucking gay", i will attempt to explain the other two new ways; "to the brim" = you have two "gay" guys fucking and when they cum they fill their partners asshole "to the brim". if you can stomach (no pun intended) the implications of where the phrase stems from, then you can appropriately add it in to your everyday insults. so if you think that whatever is "the gayest thing in the entire world" you can insert (again no pun intentional) "to the brim and overflowing". |

Its great , they remake "Saving privat Ryan" and replace all the guns with walkie talkies and the word "Terrorist" with "Hippie" haha! George Lucas gets some too because of his remaking of the original starwars. I love southpark, mostly because most of the creators values and critisism on things are mine too . |

for god's sake.. this book was written nearly 50 years. I was totally disgusted at what happened on 11/09. but does that mean we have to creep around every subject that relates to towers and the number 2. Let the USA have their way and let them change it over there, but in Britain it should stay as the TWO towers not the twin towers, maybe malaysia should take down their skyscraper as it's built on a two tower basis.. I'd agree with Jedi Chris and Sido here - changing the name would be one more (though small and rather insignificant) thing to give the terrorists. What was done was last year was horrible and is horrible, but the rest of what resultantly happens this year is just as big as we make it. There are many twin sets of towers in the world, I lived next to a pair last year, and we were okay with not linking them to New York, or changing their name. |
