mp3.com/autechreS notice the S at the end of the name. And as if this isn't bad enough the cd that is available is EP9 as apposed to EP7. I don't know whether to laugh or get mad.

Well if it's meant to be a joke then it is funny. But if the purpose is to trick people into thinking he is Autechre then it is sad and appauling.

Probably a way to draw peoples attention. "Hmmmmm. Autechres. Haven't I heard that name before?"
So how is the music then? Crappy, I guess?

oh come on it's an ovious..hommage..there's also an aphex twine..it's a part of a well established practice on mp3.com..one of the fields you fill on the forms when you join asks for names of similar artists..in which you plonk in your influences, these also work as search keywords..one of the great way of exploring mp3.com and the new music on there is to plonk in the name of an established artist like say autechre..and then klick on the similar artist link..and all the artists that have cited autechre as an influence/inspiration/similar artist will come up..it's a great way to find new artists...
it's perfectly harmless..and I am sure the real artists would be chuffed rather than hitting their law firms on the speed dial

It's sorta similar as me practicing releasing MY songs on soulseek under the names of popular artists. hehe. but that doesn't promote me it just makes me giggle thinking there are people out there listening to noise tracks by me thinking "it's genious because richard made it"
