Well, I've heard alot of music-styles, but what the heck is illbient? I'm guessing it's some kind of ambient music, like Flim or Iz-us, but I might be wrong. Anyone?

Didn't DJ Spooky invent the term?
It's supposed to be ambient music that gives the feeling of dread. I have Songs of a Dead Dreamer - that's a pretty good example of the genre.

Inverted Whale, isn't ambient creepy music called Darkwave of Dark Ambient, as well? Or is it just illbient?

I hate genres ... I always get them mixed up.
Maybe illbient is a cross between hip hop and ambient. One of the dictionaries of electronic music should help.

there is a separate genre for ambient music that gives the feeling of dread? Damn, this is getting way too out of hand... what about ambient that makes you feel happy, or sad, or angry? Are there separate genres for those?

Illbient is a term used for dark atmospheric Dub..essentially the music that has the opposite effect of Dub(chill out relax get stoned etc)..while using the same structures and sounds as dub..yes DJ Spooky probably invented the term but the early illbient sound is most directly indebted to SCORN and Technoanimal...DJ Spooky's label Asphodel is full of Illbient artists..as is Blue Planet..the home base of early PLUG..eventhough the sound has progressed and lots of elements of Drum'n'Bass, Drill'n'Bass and other such experimental IDMish have sunk in.....actually the sound is getting too far removed to be called Illbient anymore...
Amon Tobin's stuff is too cruisy and cheerful to be illbient as is most of Ninja Tune/Mo Wax stuff...it's just at odds with the funky ethics of the NinjaTunes etc (lately actually I prefer the more colourful Ninja Tune stuff to illbient)

i remember him saying in an interview that illbient was ambient for an urban setting...so it has elements of hip hop ..and is usually supposed to be dark and kinda claustrophobic

darkwave is mostly synthpop. and crappy. cleopatra records...yeah, pretty much.
darkambient is just what is sounds like...deep, dark, brooding ambient. like the soundtrack to a horror film. diffrent styles, from synthetic drones to soundtrackish moans :).
illbient, i've heard this term many times, but i'm nto a huge fan of ambient, so i didnt' look into it. but i believe that i's soemthign to do with hip-hop and ambient. not sure, but that's what i've gathered.
think of this...what genre mostly uses the term "ill?" hip-hop mostly.
