Yup, A Tribe Called Quest... their second album The Lowend
Theory... it's REALLY nice... the beats are fantastic, and
the jazz samples are sweet!!! Oh, and the rapping is cool
too... I'm really getting into this hip-hop thang... :)

he doesn't try too hard when it comes to hip-hop. me and
some others here have made some really great recommendations
(i even went out of my way to suggest things i know he'd
like, based on what he's liked recently) and he's said he
has no interest in hip-hop and won't be checking out
anything with rap vocals. i'm glad he got into tribe but
he's really just on the tip of the iceberg.

What do u mean?

Theres a lot of hip hop heads on this forum so dont front.

Funkmaster: Im glad u liked it :) Its a nice album (not
that rap cliche thang) but as Titsworth said its just on
the tip of the iceberg.

Its not even in my top 10 list. Its sure is a classic tho.

I definitly recommend Blackalicious, Pharcyde, The Roots,
Common etc

Low End Theory and Midnight Mauraders are both in my top 10
hip hop albums of all time, although I have had them on
vinyl for maybe 7 years now ;)

I'm just getting into hip-hop tits... you're already well
into the music, and have been for years I'm sure... I'm just
starting... so sue me if I don't have a lot from the genre,
and so sue me if I'm late getting into the music... it never
did anything for me before, but recently it has started...
and, I knew ATCQ did jazzy music, plus I like Q-Tip, and
Phifes voices, so I decided to get this... I've read
excellent things about it, so it was a good choice for me...
and I'm happy with it...

hmmm, don't take that as me being angry, or annoyed... I
don't want you to get the wrong idea... I'm not... I'm just
saying that I'm just starting to get into hip-hop, and ATCQ
seemed like my thing... :)

if you like the tribe, you should definetly get some Roots
funk, I recomend either Illedelph Halflife or Things Fall
Apart, great albums

Methinks I can smell a bit of musical snobbery in this
thread. I mean, Funkmaster's just recently got into a Tribe
Called Quest - so what? Good for him.

I'm sure Funkmaster likes stuff that none of us have heard
of yet.

i'd like to quote something i said several posts ago in this
thread: "i'm glad he got into tribe"! it's an excellent
choice! i was just griping about how i make recommendations
and they go unappreciated. i'm not asking the man to go out
and spend $100 based on my word alone, but maybe download
some mp3's or listen to something owned by a friend and IF
he likes it buy it some time. i like funkmaster, that's why
i recommend music to him and other people! anyway, this
isn't some titsworth vs. funkmaster / zeus vs. everyone type
shit so let's just stop it right here. all i'll say is that
i agree with what's been said, if you like tribe check out
a) their album 'midnight mauraders' [sp] and b) the roots!
they're one of my favorite groups, my girlfriend and i just
saw them 2 nights ago in virginia. they're the world's
leading 'hip-hop band' (live instruments, no samples) and
they have a very strong jazz influence. i recommend starting
with "illadelph halflife"!

well see it's only been this week or so that I've been
listening to some rap... and only the other day that I
bought The Lowend Theory... when you recommended me some
hip-hop I wasn't really listening to any rap... if you could
suggest some good tracks from The Roots, then I'll download
em... if I can get on Soulseek...

no problem! i'll start with 10, you don't "have" to get all
of them but i recommend them all highly. so..

you got me
the next movement
act too (love of my life)
100% dundee
clones
concerto of the desperado
episodes
what they do
the hypnotic
silent treatment

actually I've heard The Next Movement I think, and it is a
kick ass song... (if I'm thinking of the right one...

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll start with a few of them...

yea it was a single and video, it's really nice! it's from
their last album. they have a new one coming out in october
but i didn't mention any songs from it cos there are only
live versions available at the moment.
