...and I have to say what a blast that was to watch! If
you havn't seen it i definatly recommend seeing that dvd. I
like how it wasn't all pop and glitz and only showed the
good side of things. i just like how it was almost honest
in its approach to the band and the life they have to life
to do what they want to do. you could easy see them getting
quite exausted of all these questions thrown at them and all
the photo shoots they had to go through ... among other
things. Very nice documentary on Radiohead. I like this
one part where Thom was answering a question and he's like
directing his answer to like how he sees the pop-rock
industry on how its all based on money. you see all this
money come in and its just so easy to lay back and get
comphy with throwing out all the same old stuff and never
take a risk. Its just so easy to do that. im just glad
Radiohead have the 'balls' so to speak and strength to do
new things... and thats one of the reasons why i like them
so much...that and they're just so talented.

does it follow them from the beggining? was it documented
that far back?

I think it was 1998 ... the dvd was made. yeah i looked
now...it was made in 98

why do you bring that up Zeus?

the dvd package itself has an Ok Computer look to it. the
front has diagrams on how to hold a steering wheel...some
charts and graphs...a man in a car...and the woman and man
shaking hands.

thats a great movie. what i really like, besides the overall
approach you already mentioned, are the little moments when
the audio and visual sides of that movie really come
together to convey its themes. plus the live performance
where Jonny "revs" up his guitar is great.

i just wondered how far back they cover

like, from the BEGGINING or from like, when?

yeah that was great. is jonny the one with 'japanese hair'?
man its so long on the front...but it looks so cool. it
really shows nicely when he was on the the phone in the
hotel or whatever doing that interview. so he was revving
his guitar there? i wasn't sure what he was doing...he was
just making it sound so weird...it was wicked.

its from their 1998 tour for Ok computer, so its sort of a
limbo between ok computer and Kid a. it really explains why
Kid A was made as it was.

It doesn't really say how far they go back...they had
footage of when they were in japan...australian...like i
don't know when they did those so. i can't really tell you

i say revving because it sounded like a car engine starting,
you know, reving, and they were playing airbag. that guy's a
genius.

Zaphod:

1) how did you know it was their ok comp tour? and

2) how did you get the impression that it explained how kid
a was made? i didn't see anything about that.

i'm just happy someone else here has even seen this movie,
because its one of the better "tour documentaries" out
there.

well, the whole thing features songs from ok computer, it
starts out with a news artile scrolling up the screen about
ok computer, and the entire thing pretty much chronicles how
much they hated that tour and the medias reception of ok
computer.

which brings me to kid a. that album was sort of a rejection
of the press declaring radiohead as "saviors of rock and
roll" and i see it as their most alien album, so it seems
like it was a logical next step and response to the hell
they go through in meeting people is easy. i don't know how
much sense that makes, but there are probably websites
detailing this stuff.

speaking of radiohead, i've just downloaded all their new
songs, and they seem very good, although the mp3 quality is
terrible.

yeah i saw this again last week too..

very well done

and yeah, it was intended as a documentation of the whole
touring/album promoting experience...as zaphod said, its
clear that kid a and amnesiac were created and handled the
way they were because of this experience..
