Try soulseek - www.soulseek.org

I also run a private file sharing server (opennap,
compatible with winmx) for the members of this message
board. Email me for more info.

hey whale...

for the summer im on my parents comp, but when school starts
up again, ill be on my MAC, so can I join youre server?

Just one question... is the server MAC compatable... like
the software used?

If so, it would be great!

Whenever you want to join, just send me an email.

The server is Mac compatible, but it gets a bit complicated
(just ask roygbivcore). It seems most of the resources
devoted to Mac p2p since the demise of Napster have gone
toward the Hotline and Gnutella systems, not Opennap.

I have a pre Mac OSX system to use and I've tested all the
clients that I can find. The only one that works acceptably
is "Rapster". It allows downloading and chat, but not
uploading, which is a bit of a problem since you might as
well have a "leech" sign around your neck.

The situation on OSX is probably a bit better. You'll be
able to run the "xnap" java client, at least, and you'll
have access to the whiz-bang Unix clients that exist.

I use Soulseek exclusively... it has everything I really
need.

But Audiogalaxy was the best. RIP. :-( I found some stuff on
there that you can't find on Soulseek, or anywhere else that
I've checked.

I have Kazaa Lite, Blubster, EDonkey, Xolox, Soulseek,
Winmx... but the only one that has earned my love is
Soulseek.

Napster was great, though. I still have it installed because
of all the memories it gave me. My first Aphex track...
sniff...

people using theyre computers as servers to surf on

i'd suggest inverted whale's server. it's like a community
that already had a community to begin with! (meaning this
mb). also. there's lots of great stuff for everyone! and
it's free!

free you say?
and it's toast!
wow! will you throw in the jelly?
i thought you'd never ask! throw in the jelly!
:zorak comes in riding a giant jar of jelly:

oh. i'm sorry. that was a brak moment. anyways, yeah! it's
real cool.

Definitely look up Whale's server, obviously there's great
music on there. I don't use it because I have Soulseek on
24/7, I don't like having that dastardly Winmx cretin
running at the same time. Plus I'm lazy.

... join us Ophecks ...

(just turn off the "winmx peer network" portion of winmx and
you're golden)
