it's a fascinating article... really makes me want to listen
to his music even more.

A friend of mine who plays the piano also loves to play his
pieces. She says her favorite compositions comes with the
instructions by Satie that you should only play it when you
are feeling "a tad annoyed" :-)

But the man died in 1925... i doubt he has every "released"
anything in some form like an "album"... or? I have been
wondering about this... if i wanted to start listening to
eric satie... Are there actual recordings of him playing his
own music, or are there just loads of interpretations
avaiable by various pianists?

I'm not sure if there are recordings of Satie actually
playing his own material. I would really hope so...but i'll
need to research that a bit more. I think the majority of
his stuff floating around is performed by other
artists...which has ups and downs

The pieces are very very cool to play. I'm going to buy the
Erik Satie: Best of Cd ASAP, i've heard a bunch of tracks
from it and it sounds pretty cool.

i'm really getting into this stuff now

I flipped through my Penguin guide and there are no pieces
of Satie by Satie. It's by no means definitive, though.

Yea, i wouldn't doubt that there might be a recording
floating about. Wish i had it. I bought a decently
produced disc with some of his stuff...very cool/very
relaxing.
