ancient chinese medicaine claims acupuncture cures all kinds of diseases, ranging from alzheimer's to depression, by inserting needles at certain points on your body. hmm...

dood...it's 2000 yr old medicine. it has worked wonders for a few friends, when western medicine didn't provide relief.
some insurance companies pay for it so it is legit medicine.
i would love to try it if i had any issues....thankfully i don't. =0)

you actually know some people that got it done and had positive results?! that's so cool!
i just stumbled upon an acupuncture site, and decided to check it out a bit. there are lots of skeptics that say it is nothing but malarky...

yeah, i don't know how much i'd like the idea of some doc sticking needles into my internal organs... on one of the sites, it mentioned pierced lungs and kidneys. 8-O *shudders*

me too... but that's not what i learned tonite. supposedly there is 'routine acupuncture'--is just on the skin. and then there is 'stuck needle acupuncture', which involves piercing and twisting. *yikes!*

hmmm... well i just read on another site that the needle only goes in 2-3 cun deep.... does anyone know what the hell a cun is, and what it converts to? (heh)
anyway, maybe they aren't supposed to stick the needles into the organs... but there are many cases where they have done so, and caused severe bleeding, and patients had to be rushed to the hospital. it said that especially in the US, there are very few trained and legitimate acupuncturists, and many are quite liable to make mistakes...

brenden....the needles only go in a lil bit..1/4 of an inch MAX..if you go to an acupuncturist make sure and check references. like any other doctor there are prolly quacks out there.
they have helped two of my friends who couldn't get relief for allergies and one for a speech disorder. it was lasting effects. the one with allergies had a few needles sticking out around his ears....he said he didn't even feel them! =0)
if it were not REAL medicine...insurance companies would NOT pay. so take some comfort in that.

I don't know how well it works first hand, but I wouldn't doubt it. I'd rather try that than take synthesized drugs if I had any problems.

hehehe
yea the organ thing sounded NASTY.....believe me i'd feel if something were going in THAT deep....i'd be on my feet and hitting that dr so fast he'd wish he'd never seen my face.....ahahhaa
but yea.....for the allergies.....i was around the outside of the ear. and they cut the needles down do they barely stuck out......and it worked......=0)
i would not hesitate to try it with the proper credentials check of course. esp for some kind of relaxing therapy.....ahhhhhhh =0)
