I need reassuring, I'm really scared of them. Please
everyone tell me they are not. If you are you will not gain
my trust ever again. So...you're not, are you?

I'm a hacker in the original sense of the word ... the word
itself has such a bad connotation these days. It's better to
call the bad guys crackers.

LISTEN HERE!

THIS IS NOT A JOKE! If there are hackers here, I'm
leaving...and never coming back.

Meho the daddy-o hacker on this site .. He's generally ok,
but I hear he's messed up a few puters here and there :)

He's generally just scouring around for porn, especially
midget dog porn .. harmless enough

If you leave because this board has hackers you want to just
never use your modem again, Hackers are every place on-line
and you just have to deal with it. Most of them wont or cant
touch you Toejam so just chill out hmm?

Here's a question:
If I fill out as least as possible in my profile, would it
be harder for hackers to hack me?

Toejam: you're fucking around with us, aren't you? You're
just playing dumb, right?

Korben: Nice to see you Mate, how's the weather down there?
Is your winter cooler than our summer?

My home computer gets attacked unsuccessfully several times
a day (Code Red virus, etc).

If you're really worried about this, get a firewall
installed on your computer and have someone competent set it
up.

It doesn't really matter whether you give out personal
information or not.

Going splendid! Nice to see ya. Weather, ah .. raining at
the mo. Kind of cold, mild compared to your winter, ca.
10C-20C (min-max). What're you up to these days? Hows
beograd?

Just use firewall/ antivirus software, use webmail whenever
you can and stay off the internet if you don't have anything
to do there.

Beograd's hotter than Satan's tight red ass. I fucking hate
summers here. And winters too, come to think of it. I only
tolerate autumn and spring... I am writing a long email to
jonesy at the moment. Other than that it's Jacques Attali's
"Noise" (have you read it, if not, give it a ride) and
trying to install GTA III on my brother's machine (the
fucking crackers fucked something up).

Had my first day back at lectures today .. one of my courses
will be taught by a blind lecturer! Quite a strange feeling,
he's a funny guy etc. But its strange to think that he sits
in the room and can't see us, and we're sitting right in
front of him!

No haven't .. noted (cheers!). You read any Hans-Georg
Gadamer? I think I might try and do some more reading of his
stuff (Truth & Method).

How's jonesy these days?

Toejam: If you were older, you'd know this is the one and
only Ron Jeremy.

Korben: I haven't read Gadamer. But I have to, obviously.
I'm a slow reader when it comes to theoretical prose as I
have a lot of gaps in my knowledge... Jonesy's got a new job
and he's only able to get on the web during his lunch break,
but we keep email correspondence going. He just got some
CD's I'd sent him last week and he's in the process of
raving mad about DJ Krush and Wu Tang.

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-07-22 15:25 [#00319915]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

I have huge holes also, I'm a slow reader, and generally
don't like "reading" as such - tho i like what i read - if
that makes sense. Helps if i do papers, coz it sort of
motivates me. These holidays i was intending to read Karl
Popper's Logic of Scientific Discovery and Douglas
Hofstadter's Goedel/Escher/Bach .. Managed to read about 7pg
of Popper, and about 50 of the latter :/

I'll be doing some Baudrillard this semester! hehe.. Wu Tang
eh? Yeah, DJ Krush would be right up his alley it seems.
I've got to get me some more Tigerbeat6 stuff ..

Have you actually got any um, how shall we say fetishes in
regards to music, coz you seem pretty well balanced, and
well knowledgeable across the board?

Yeah, you are obliged to read that stuff whereas I read it
for fun. That's a difference and that means that I am a
very lazy bastard and should make no philosophical comments
anywhere, ever.

Tigerbeat? Now we're talking!!! I am searching high and low
for that new Kevin Blechtum ep. (or is it Blevin Blechdom?
The one with Tina Turner "Private dancer"cover) Hope my ftp
sharing friends do something about it soon...

I dunno about my fetishes... There are some artists bands
that I value very high but it doesn't mean that they would
mean anything to you. I usually haven't got any plausible
explanations why I rate them higher than others. But here's
a short messy list:

Godflesh
Merzbow
John Coltrane
Albert Ayler
Otomo Yoshihide/ Ground Zero
John Zorn
Autechre (hmm, obviously)
King Tubby
African Headcharge
Old Napalm Death
Francisco Lopez
...

Toejam......do you have Windows XP?
If so, make sure you have removed the tick from Remote
Access and File Sharing.

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-07-22 15:40 [#00319939]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

Nice selection, yeah Autechre is well up there for me - some
of the other stuff doesn't quite mean so much to me, but
there is nothing i dislike .. just lack of knowledge
really. I didn't realise till a little while ago that Kevin
(or Blevin was a girl - while - intriguing in this male
predominated scene).

And your philosophical statements are well entitled - no
need to be so humble! :)

I am not being humble. I am just stating the facts. I bluff
a lot. I shouldn't do that if I want to be respected by the
real men.

Yeah, I had the same problem, when I read the first
interview with Blechtum from Blechdom I thought one of them
was male and other female and it took me quite a while to
realise that they're both female. They disbanded,
apparently....

Mmm?

If you're really interested, but by no means should you feel
obliged, or to read the stuff, but i can give you some
excerpts (maybe 5-10 pages) on Gadamer and some other stuff
if you're interested. Pop me a mail if you want. We study
the stuff, so it's not a bad starting place.

And, yeah, there was foam in the tub but they did look like
a couple of swollen college students (which, of course they
were) and it was hard to tell the genders... I am not sure
they were/ are lovers. Whereas Matmos are. Have you heard
their latest outing with Lesser? A live CD. Actually a
spliced up mix of various live gigs. I am lead to believe
it's excellent.

No haven't heard Matmos' outing with Lesser. And yeah I knew
they are rather fond of each other :) - hence the cutetsy
music. I do have some live mp3's of a Bjork concert with
matmos backing - but its a bootleg.

Cool cool, I'll see what I can hook you up with. I have
