Toejam has heaps of Aphex but not enough Autechre. He wants
to get more, but doesn't know which to start with. Can
anyone help him (me) out??

Well, I only have two Autechre albums. I started with Amber
then LP5. And now I really want to get Gantz Graf.

LP5 is very good, it would make a good first purchase.

I'll have to check if my local store has LP5, think it does
:-)

them...excellent Ae.

Tri Repeatae ++

Amber, LP5 and Tri Repetae is my favourites. Anti and Gantz
Graf (both EPs) are the one I like least

Fuck all these other guys. Peel sessions 2. BELIEVE ME.
You'll love AE if you buy this cd (the cover is all white,
except for some hidden words).

I'd say Tri Repetae is a great start. But I started with
Confield, which I wouldn't recommend, exactly... but it
worked for me!

Start with Amber or Incunabula. That's my opinion.

get the first one first. then work up, its kind of a
progression from one to the other.

nonono, peel sessions 2 is the GREATEST for starters. its
cheap too!

offline Dozier from United States on 2002-07-21 17:28 [#00318534]

I agree with Pachi, which is why I say go with Amber or
Incunabula first. They're the earlier ones, and they're very
good. It'll give you a more solid foundation before they
really start experimenting with their sound.

Argh! I meant to say I agree with the_crier, not pachi!

i started off with (INCUNABULA) and then i downloaded the
live vancouver set. thats what really got me. then i bought
LP5, and i've downloaded tri repetae, amber, and chiastic
slide. i'd suggest starting with tri repetae, it's an
amazing album.

offline roygbivcore from Joyrex.com, of course! on 2002-07-21 17:51 [#00318565]

is it me, or is 4:24 of dael just fucking great?

offline hannibal from United Kingdom on 2002-07-21 20:33 [#00318689]

ExHore id agree with that to some degree...i started with
that, but id probably rather have started with peel sessions
1 or something slightly more accessible. im really into peel
2 now, but it took me a while. with all the abnormal time
signatures and stuff in the first couple of tracks.

peel 1 is more standard 4/4 stuff but i suppose peel 2 is
more representative of what the later Ae sound is like.
