there's going to be a new release by telefon tel aviv
coming out very soon. i put info on it on my music page,
dunno if you've seen it yet. it's called "immediate action
#8." i emailed hefty records for more info on it 2 weeks
ago, but i guess i emailed the wrong department cos they
didn't respond. i'll get a copy of the email from someone i
blind carbon copied it to and re-send it to another address
there. i will do my best to get a track listing for you and
all the other telefon tel aviv fans here!

hello mr steamtank
how do you going???
my answer:
well.... i don't know world cd average price.
we must pay for 18-19 bucks to buy
import cd.
on the other hand
for domestic cd we must pay for 25-30 buck.
you probably think import cd is very
expensive, right_??
but in japan
we could take import cd cheaper than
domestic cd .
this import cd i mentioned is without
song lyrics card.
personally i don't need it..
hehe

how about your place???
mr steamtank

i hope hefty emails me back tomorrow, i can excuse them not
replying on a weekend but i'm going to be pissed off if they
blow me off from 2 different email addresses. i also asked
them about scott heron and the newport south soundtrack.

i got an email from them (actually slicker himself, cool!)
here's the whole thing (in pieces i'm sure)
------
> Dear Hefty,
>
> Greetings to one of my favorite record labels! Keep doing
what you're doing,
> you guys are FANTASTIC and lots of people are catching
on.

Hey, John Hughes/Slicker here.

That's great to hear. We're trying to make our own path.

> I've read that savath+savalas had decided to abandon his
usage of other
> names because his output as Prefuse 73 had morphed to an
amalgram of the P73
> style plus all the styles of his other aliases. Is it true
that he won't be
> releasing anymore under his other names? I noticed Hefty
has a new S+S EP
> out (interestingly, Warp has a new P73 one coming out, as
I'm sure you
> know!), will that be the last under that name?

I think you're talking about him dropping just the
Delarosa+Asora alias.
Let me know if I'm wrong. He will definitely continue to
work as
Savath+Savalas. He is currently working on his new
full-length in
Barcelona... so the EP will not be his last.

> Next I have to ask about the soundtrack to Newport South.
I read that a
> chunk of it was scored by Slicker/John Hughes and another
chunk by Telefon
> Tel Aviv (including a remix of NIN's "Even Deeper").
However, like the movie
> the soundtrack hasn't been heard or heard from. What's
up?

Actually, the majority was done by Telefon Tel Aviv. I did
a few cues, as
did Scott Herren and Richard Devine. The movie and
soundtrack were both
buried by the film company. I think you can actually find
the DVD on
amazon.com, but the soundtrack isn't avialable... and
probably won't be any
time soon. The soundtrack is amazing however.

> Lastly, can I get a full track listing for Immediate
Action #8 and the price
> heftyrecords.com plans to sell it for?

I don't know what it will be selling for yet, but there will
be two new
tracks from Telefon, a Slicker remix from "Fahrenheit" as
well as Prefuse 73
remix. It's going to be a pretty nice record.

Well, since the IAs are so limited we don't give any promos

--------
ok so it was cheap and assinine of me to try to con a free
copy of the cd from them, but i didn't expect one of their
major artists to be reading and replying to my email! at
least i arranged for myself a nice signed copy of it. in the
followup i sent i also asked if i could get a cd-r copy of
the newport south soundtrack. i doubt i'll get that one
either but i was nicer about a

actress is a real spicy italian if you catch my drift

joshua eustis is going to record an album with danny lohner.

john hughes (slicker) finally got back to my email, i'm not
going to paste the whole thing but here are some parts.
------
> i'm sure you're right about him just dropping that name,
the fact that he
> just put an ep out with you guys as savath+savalas made me
think twice about
> what i had read/heard. scott really is prolific, i wonder
if he'll have a
> full length out on warp this year as well? 2 ep's and 2
lp's.

I think his Warp record won't be out until next year. We'll
see.
-----
> yea i kinda figured that out when IMDB removed the movie
from its site, so
> sad cos i (and a lot of people, especially nin fans who,
as you probably
> know, really do enjoy telefon tel aviv) was really excited
to hear the

i really don't
> know a thing about it outside of the music. i might check
out the dvd from
> amazon if it's region 1. i wish i could see scarlet diva
too, i read about
> it (and the lead actress) and it seems fascinating.
unfortunately there's no
> american theatrical or dvd version is there?

New Port South just wasn't a big priority for them. It's
too bad because
the soundtrack came out amazing. I heard that Scarlet Diva
was released in
NY this month. And it's funny, Asia the actress/director is
in that new Vin
Diesel movie, XXX... pretty crazy.

doesn't mean much to
> you as a stranger.

It would cost us an arm and leg in legal fees alone! There
was talk of it
for a little while, but ultimately it isn't worth it. All
the soundtrack
stuff isn't compiled on one proper CD, so it would be tough
to get you a
copy.
------
[he - slicker - remixed "TTV" from telefon tel aviv's
album]
------
>what are telefon tel aviv up to currently? is joshua going
to do an
> album with danny lohner?

Right now they are working on their record for next year and
getting tour
dates together. I don't think Josh will be doing a record
with Danny, but
likely some more remix work.
------

that's about it. i just asked him some more about what
telefon are doing plus a question on behalf of a lot of you
regarding alternate ways to order hefty albums on their site
(w/o credit card).
