do computers think or merely calculate?

thru the echoing sky in (the) most vivid of blue
sprung an island of thought rejecting all gloom
looked east to the spiritual guidance once left
by the ancestral body left long in the west
the island of thought enwrapped in an aura
blowing velvet of winds entwined to the earth
giving birth to the ideas bestowed upon heads
developing bliss and an ideal of balance
facing the challenge of unknown designs
aligning their spirit to flow within veins
in this focus of balance (staccato is legato)
and the music of blood as it drifts across the brain
is awash with the harmony and melody of life
this device of consciousness
this awareness fed by light
from the wavebands of the universe
to converse with yesterday's perspective
reflected with futurity
to hold a world within a thought
the dazzle of a summer day
caught hazily by memory
the sensory reminisces
the island of thought smiles
by the happy scenes in dreams
of yesteryears & all the while
the dreamer lies asleep

i THOUGHT you said you didn't like poetry??

ehhehe.......one would naturally assume you didn't write
any....HOWEVER i see evidence to the contrary!

nice work marlowe-man! =0)

this part :

the island of thought smiles
by the happy scenes in dreams
of yesteryears & all the while
the dreamer lies asleep

reminds me of childhood.....happy times before we learned we
had to worry about the future =0(

maybe we merely calculate...
maybe what we call soul, spirit, consciousness or whatever
is nothing but the result of our brain's calculations.
randomness of our thoughts may be just an illusion.

and maybe if we decide to call these calculations "thinking"
nevertheless...
maybe computers do think then. :)
