RDJ Track Checklist anyone?

Cornell from Seattle, Washington on 2001-07-30 06:02 [#00018582]

For the past few years, I've been attempting to collect the
entire RDJ collection... mainly original copies, but in
extreme cases where originals are rare or can't be found,
(Gak, Q-Chastic, MfM etc.), I've settled for mp3s.

However, I've finally got to the point where I'm sick and
tired of looking for obscure albums and EPs that I don't
need anyway (the songs are found on albums I already have or
on other albums that are easier to get a hold of).

What I thought was... "wouldn't it be great if someone went
through the entire RDJ back catalogue and cross-referenced
every song/edit/remix?"

Then people would be able to go through the list with their
mp3s or albums, checking off songs they have, songs they
need etc.

I mean, it's one thing to have a 'discography'... but it
gets frustrating when you have to go through ten different
versions of each release to make sure you have all the
songs.

So... I ask... does anyone have such a checklist? If so,
that'd be great and it would be much appreciated if you
distributed it around... perhaps emailing it or posting it
on the net. I'm *trying* to make my own, but I estimate that
I'm only half-way through it and it might take a week or so
to finish (at least... I have other things to do too).

So... yeah, if someone has one, please... share! :)

My suggestion is to organize it as Song Name, Track Length,
Where it can be found... then maybe a couple of tickboxes,
one for ticking that you have a copy on an album, another
for ticking that you have it on mp3.

I'd like to think that somewhere down the line, I'd have
such a 'checklist'... and even further down the line perhaps
all the songs checked off :P

Comments on this idea would be appreciated, people :)

I doubt that would be very hard at all. Long, but not too
hard. I have a huge collection of AFX.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-30 07:27 [#00018591]

Why make it that easy? A discography should make the work
for you.

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-30 07:29 [#00018593]

Well.... the discography {if will all info} would be quite
interesting to see.

Cornell from Seattle, Washington on 2001-07-30 15:42 [#00018688]

Well, R3FL3X, if it doesn't seem like such a daunting task,
how about contributing a little bit? :)

How about making a list of all his hard-to-find songs for me
and posting it here?

I have pretty much every EP/Album on my list, however it's
the 'rare' stuff like Brivert & Muons, CAT 002, n.Iasp, My
Teapot that gets me worried. Although I have the above in my
list, I'm kinda concerned that I may have missed something.
So if you (or anyone else out there who has a complete list
of rare tracks (and remixes?) not found on the regular RDJ
albums, please please PLEASE, could you post? :)

The more help I get from you guys, the quicker I can finish
this off :) Thanks people :)

It would be nice to include track lengths too, because a few
times I've downloaded a rare track that has been edited down
to about half of its original length, only to find out later
that the song goes for much longer..

Mary Poorcredit on 2001-07-30 15:50 [#00018692]

Zhwooom!

Cornell from Seattle, Washington on 2001-07-30 17:07 [#00018703]

Rob... As for track lengths, I agree with you
wholeheartedly. If I try to download a song using Kazaa or
something, I always look at the track length before I click
on 'Download'. No point in waiting an hour for one song to
download, only to find out it cuts out the last few seconds.
But yeah, I already mentioned putting track length in the
checklist...

on the rarities part)\

Aphex Twin - "On"
Aphex Twin - "Ventolin"
Aphex Twin - "Ventolin: The Remixes"

Aphex Twin - "Come to Daddy"
Aphex Twin - "Come to Daddy Remixed
"Aphex Twin - "Windowlicker"
AFX - Analogue Bubblebath
AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 3
AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 4
Caustic Window - "Compilation"
Polygon Window - "Surfing on Sine Waves"
Aphex Twin - "Donkey Rhubarb"
Mike n Rich - "Expert Knob Twiddlers"

Aphex Twin - NIN works (i have the cd)

mp3's :
Beck Devil's Haircut remix
Powerpill - Pacman (original mix)
The Tetris Remix

AFX/ Baby Ford - "Normal (Helston Flora Mix) (off of
Braindance Coincidence - ihave that on cd too)

None of this stuff is that hard to ifnd if you know a good
indie record store with a fairly large special order book,
who doesn't mind taking them. Also, indie stores that have
been established for a long time in certain areas that
aren't keen on Aphex will have some of the rarer stuff. I
discovered this when i foud an indie record store that had
been open for years that had a mass quantity of Aphex that i
did not have.

I also have 51/13 Singles Collection, but since i have all
the EP's, it's sorat worthless to me now.

damn my crappy typing today!!!
*hits self hard!!!*

well, Cornell i don't have the time or patience to write
that sort of a checklist, but i can tell you where the stuff
can be found....

WARP RECORDS.com :
On Ep's/Ventolin Ep's/Donkey
RHUBArb/Come2Daddy/Windowlicker/rdj album/i care because you
do/SAW2/Surfing On Sine Waves

REPHLEX:
AFX Analogue Bubblebath 3 & 4
Caustic Window - Compilation
AFX Helston Flora of "Normal" (on Braindance Coincidence)

WAX TRAX:
AFX - Analogue Bubblebath
Polygon Window - Surfing on Sine Waves (original)

NIN works -- Further Down the Spiral (can be found quite
easily)

The rest you'll have to dig around the net for, or as i said
earlier, find a really good indie store that might have
them.

Happy hunting!!! --- :)

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-30 18:08 [#00018725]

*cough* I stole it. Heh. No its mp3. Heh.

-J- from California on 2001-07-30 18:22 [#00018727]

=|R3FL3X|=: Aren't there TWO Ventolin ep's? There are...

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-30 18:23 [#00018729]

-J-: yeah and there is also 1 with both of them on it. thats
the one I gots. you can buy it almost anywhere. its just the
two ventolin cds put into 1.

Cornell from Seattle, Washington on 2001-07-31 02:27 [#00018795]

Yeah, I read the previous strings and saw that some people
got a bit pissed about your collection. Personally, I
couldn't care less.

But seeing as you seem to have a fairly extensive
collection... it would have been nice to get some track
times/track lists from you heh :P Nah, it doesn't matter...
I'll keep going with the info I have already and if I need
assistance, I'll know where to turn, okay? :)

Also, seeing as you 'technically' have Melodies from Mars...
tell me this... does it have 11 tracks or 12? The 'official'
discography lists it as 12, but everywhere else lists it as
11... *shrug*

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-31 02:49 [#00018801]

Yup thanks. Yeah the Melodies From mars I have has 11
tracks. There are supposed to be 12. Its that the majority
of the copies of it going around are fuct up. Mines alright,
just the version without track 12.

DublOSyx from East on 2001-10-30 01:59 [#00046890]

Melodies from mars is Twelve and 11 tracks. There were two
versions. One had the longer version of Logon rock witch
(which if you click the sample on thi ste the wrong track
plays) and the the short track (1:30) cuts off at 1:09. The
othe version doesn't have logon rock witch on it. Good luck
finding an mp3 of it though. I managed to get a hold of
one. Just to let you now I have a total of 360 tracks done
by RDJ (inclding the remixes). I still only have one track
from the Q-chastic EP. Somebody out there has t have it.
Damn it!

Carl on 2001-10-30 02:02 [#00046894]

I like you, DublOSyx, I like you alot.

od from perth on 2001-10-30 02:38 [#00046907]

im not sure of this, but apparently i have every afx mp3
(iuncluding his remixed - devils haircut, kreiger etc..) and
also videos of on, come to daddy, windowlicker and donkey
rhubarb and an ad and some interviews on mp3 on a set of 4
CDs sent to me by mr Centurix.

i could probably take some time out and compile a litst of
them if anyones interested.

(i'd rather not, of course, coz its gonna be a pain in the
ass, but i will do it)

Aktium from www.mp3.com/aktium on 2001-10-30 04:27 [#00046960]

Ya i have 30 cds of richard d james's shit (everything on
the discography) half of it is albums that i bought so you
need mp3s to get what you want, there's a ton out there but
some are fake, but its nice to tell people its done by
richard. Like "greenwitch" that song is amazing, but i heard
that its a hoax, but i like to believe that he made it.
because that song is amazing.

yonker on 2001-10-30 04:48 [#00046973]

that song is by bochum welt man, not afx.

Aktium on 2001-10-30 04:51 [#00046974]

ya i know, but it's still richard right?

Fernz from Rainy Scotland on 2001-10-30 11:38 [#00047005]
