I am I the only one who has noticed that quality of the
postings here in the last few weeks hasn't been very good.
Some of them are absolute crap!

Come on people.....think of something!

(and for those who think that this topic is lowering the
quality - someone had to say it!)

What constitutes a good topic? How about some links to good
ones? Or if you're not link inclined then perhaps some
examples.

its not so much which are GOOD topics...

Jedi Chris
how about people resurrect their favourite thread of all
time ? which has the most amusing dialogue etc...
or the best thread they themselves posted ?

that would at least give us a break from the "Peanut butter
or marmite ?" style threads for a while .

i've been here since dec/jan and i AGREE.

whats that saying 'LESS is MORE' =0)

it's not how many replies to a topic that makes it
'interesting' or 'not-interesting' it's more a question of
is it something that needs to be shared.

ie...'i am bored' topics are something that really DO NOT
need to be shared. if you're bored i suggest going out and
doing something instead of lamenting the fact that you're
bored.

people just need to take a few EXTRA seconds to think about
what they are posting.....IMO =0)

Many people have said that the topics recently are
bad/pointless. But why should *you* be the one to decide
which topics are bad? I'm sure at least some of the people
creating not-so-afx-related topics thought that others might
enjoy reading them. Yes some are bad but unless this mb
becomes a dictatorship where one "bad" post gets you banned,
it will probably never stop. so just ignore them. ;)

offline Zephyr Twin from ΔΔΔ on 2002-07-16 19:42 [#00311469]

and on that note, I mean that phob and the other moderators
are the only ones who should decide which posts are
pointless. I meant no hard feelings :)

I'm just saying that *they* are *crap* !

You have free will and You are answering only on the topics

something stupid is the best weapon me thinks.

I take it from your response that this matter doesn't bother
you Steamtank?

I do look at the topic heading and ignore the ones I don't
want to respond to, but then you get the 'What if......'
ones where you open them up and see they're absolute shit!

this is phobiazero's 'living room' so to speak and i agree
it will be HIM that ultimately decides whats 'good' or 'bad'
but i think people should exercise GOOD JUDGEMENT about what
they post. i mean do we really need to know about every
BOWEL movement. sometimes thats how it seems when i read
topics....it's like someone ran out of ideas and decided to
just POST something. if you run through some topic's you can
see how true it is.

i don't think everything should be aphex related...music
related....etc.....again just ask yourself (I DO BEFORE I
POST) is this something that really needs to be shared with
others......phobia wants to keep this MB a quality forum,
and we should help him with that!

=0)

not without blame. i konow what are You refferin to Mr Jedi

It seems that the kind of topics you talk about differ from
Jedi Chris's. I mean, if a topic is solely about a bowel
movement you took (or something equally pointless) then yes,
I agree that posts of that nature should not occur. But if
its a post that makes you say "hmm.. what if" as Chris said,
and then you decide that *you* don't like it, who's fault is
that?

I'm not saying that there are no pointless/stupid/whatever
posts on this mb, I'm saying that maybe not ALL of those
threads are stupid to EVERYBODY.

i agree ...... opinions about topics are very subjective!

thing that i've found to be true tho.....and this may just
be me. but when i come on the MB and i read just pointless
stuff.....most of which i do ignore (like steamtank
suggested) it makes me not want to post anything that may
NOT be pointless cos i think it will get lost in all the
RUBBLE.

i hope this is just a passing trend that i've noticed. =0)
but it's a valid point to bring up and jedi chris has a
valid point IMO.

" it makes me not want to post anything that may NOT be

Yeah, I understand that. Overall I agree that everyone
should do his/her best to weed out pointless topics anyway,
just to keep the board as nice as possible :)

Maybe only OPHECKS should be able to start topics, and
everyone else should be banned from doing so. That would aid
the board immensely. All in favor, say ''AYE''.

yeah...let's make an effort, people...

I don't wanna get hardcore and start closing crap threads
(like I AM BORED etc...) but if I see many more I
will...most of em seem more suitable for a Chatroom than a
Message board so maybe that's the way to go in the
future...

Once Phob gets back from hols I'll speak with him and see if
we all as a community can come up with a set of
guidelines...that way at least we'll all have an idea of
what and what isn't appropriate here...

How does that sound?...

if we couldnt post crap, then most of us wouldnt be

cheers me up when i need it and a bunch of people talking
about spectrograms and computer figures and tour dates
doesnt do anything for me (sorry im not against any person
