Hmmm, it sounds like 7/4... I'm listening, and I can count out groups of 7, but maybe it makes more sense alternating between one bar of 3/4 and one of 4/4... hmmm, it's cool either way...

I guess you are one of the two earthly beings (including me) who have read the article on the autechre site about time signatures.... I'll have to admit that from that time on i often do some counting when i listen to music...... by the way, 777 seems to be 7/4 to me, but i'm not sure of this....

hmm i care sometimes, cos i can't relax properly listening to a track if i don't know when the next repetition will start.
it's not a geeky thing like 'that snare sound at 2.35 on track 3 sounds like its been run through an old tape recorder on top of a table with the legs cut off'.

I took guitar lessons in which I had to learn time signatures and notes and all that theory crap. Two years of it and I didn't learn a damn thing. Only thing I can do is identify 4/4 and 3/4, and even then I'm not sure HOW I identify them.

can anyone please explain to me what a time signature is? im sick of seeing people talk about 3/4, 4/4, 7/4 or whatever and never know what theyre talking about!
never figured what it was, but id like to once and for all! all i know is that 4/4 is a straight up dancefloor beat (i think)...

i think 3/4 is most country music...and stuff like 6/8 is a waltzy thing. i think.. i like working with 6/8

yes, cipater has a time signature, as does Bine, and every song I'm sure... it might be more complicated maybe (although I don't think Cipater is complicated) but it's still a time signature...
CORTEX: All a time signature is, is something which tells how many of what kind of beats are in a bar... for example, 4/4 means there are 4 quarter notes... quarter is the 4... a 6/8 time signature would simply mean 6 eighth notes are in the bar... and so forth...
