I was just thinking about how some of the people on this
board listen so many types of electronic music, and follow
all the aspects of the artists' production, while others,
like me just kinda find stuff as it comes along and gets
into it. I really want to get more in depth tho..

just seems kinda weird, maybe im just board outa my mind.

I think one of the major things I've noticed in this world
of IDM is the amount of people who are both fans & create
music themselves...Being a musician seems very common & that
gives you a slightly different relationship to the music;
you tend to listen to both the song musically plus how it
was produced (techniques, equipment etc..)...

and many people here don't just listen to/make "electronic"
music, many are into rcok/indie/hardcore/postrock/etc which
is cool i think...

i couldn't listen to only electronic music - i need my
guitars...

Actually, I'm more into rock than electronic. My favorite
artists are mostly the artsy rock bands... Beatles,
Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Tool, that kind of thing.

I'm obsessed with rock AND electronic, and enjoy both
enormously, so I get the best of both worlds.

I'm with Ophecks. I know very little about electronic music
in general. I have loved rock for as long as I can remember
and I'm into loads of different kinds of 'rock' (grind,
hardcore, death, punk, some alternative)

I like Kylie Minogue.

Is this Aphex Twin any good then?

i find myself sinking deeper and deeper into the idm world,
but i will always still listen to my Tool, Smashing
Pumpkins, Weezer, etc.....

I used to listen to Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN. Then I
listened to a lot of hip hop, Biggie, Tribe Called Quest,
etc...

Now I have pretty much forgotten all other genres of music
after listening to electronic.

yeah, I've only been into electronic music for about a
year... I love all styles... recently I've been into rock a
lot, and world music as always, and even hip-hop... right
now I'm listening to some rap... my feeling is that there's
something offered from all styles, and most I like...

don't be a prick all your life - if i had meant to say
"uninspired rip offs" i would have said "uninspired rip
offs": if you are unable to take constructive criticism than
why bother spamming to nonpartisan MBers?

shit, if you just wanted an arselicking a la funkster, you
should have said -- if you don't want honest opinions (and
remember, i was backed up by another member), why don't you
just say "no real criticism please, i'm a sensitive artist."
