wow... what a discusion... dare I partake in it? ok sure... this is how I see it: Every country has patriotic people. Every country has done bad stuff at one point or another. To say any one country is better, is foolish. America is the world power right now, so all eyes are on them. Im not denying the evil things we have done/do, in fact id be the first one to point them out, but to call America the sole evil of the world... thats kinda ignorant. Although there is alot I disagree with about America... I cant completely trash it. I live a good life. My family is well off, and for that I am thankful. I do feel sometimes that everyone hates me because Im American, and it saddens me. Sure, AMERICA has done bad things... but have I? I dont think so. Im just trying to live my life to the best I can, just like anyone else would. I live in Italy for 3 years, so I was lucky to be able to see life outside of the US. Italy is a great country... it has alot of great things that America doesnt... but on the other hand, America has alot of things Im thankful for too. To make a difinitive statement such as "I hate america"... well... its being alittle too gung ho. Anyways... those are just my thoughts... |

I'd like to give my 2 cents about this topic (like anyone cares). From a person who has pondered the subject a lot, America has its ups and downs like any other country. I don't agree with many of our policies, but I still respect my government for the most part. To say that the majority of Americans are idiots is an idiotic statement. Sure, many are self-centered or shallow, and many ARE idiots, but for a country with at least DECENT education, I'd say most are pretty intelligent, and furthermore, if you havent met EVERY american citizen, how can you say that MOST are idiots. WWII: Where to begin? First of all, if you get technical, our allies DO owe us, but who gives a shit? America's assistance in WWII was necessary to defeat a fascist regime that sought only to bring the entire world under its control. I don't expect the British or the French (or any of our other allies) to kiss my feet, its not like they didn't fight bravely and pay the price of war too. Finally, I'd like to say that most of you who hate Americans probably have never met any, or had 1 bad experience with an American. What you see on TV such as MTV or really any American tv channel is NOT America. TV is for ENTERTAINMENT. American TV is entertainment for Americans but people in other countries seem to think that it is our religion. I don't hate any country, I wish we could all pull our fucking faces out of our asses and just love one another. all this vicious defense of one's country really gets on my nerves. |

I've lived all over, I've seen others governments and their reactions to the us as a whole, I’ve been on the end of it myself and I've had no problems with that as I've never really considered myself as anything. Quite literally I don't belong to a country and it doesn't belong to me, I'm international I've always thought so and I've lived my life accordingly. The reason I'm pissed off with America is for two main reasons, the government. Every government has its faults but what bush is doing right now takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. Bombing weddings and failing to attend earth summits? Lack of funding for aids? I want to know where my money is going and I'm not getting any direct answers all I have is the indirectly obvious- its going into military power and the like. I don't Think ANY country should have that much power (not without debate or some other form of check, the people of America aren’t in power here keep that in mind there’s barely a common man in the room when these things are decided as in most places.. and people don’t care so they let them.), least of which one ruled by an idiot. America should have listened to the U.N at least have a debate before blowing up things.. they failed.. America was asked to join a world court.. they failed.. Britan has blaire, he's failed in the past (stupid comments and reactions both at home and to the more important issue of third world debt) and he's failing too by not taking enough incentive in nudging america in the right direction. The percentage of people who vote in this country who are able to is way lower than other "democratic" nations, though this is a republic.
