IMO = In My Opinion IMHO = In My Humble Opinion Merzbow is incomparable. I like VSnares too. But Merzbow has many more faces. |

Oh flea Squarepusher may be a technically more accomplished musician but he's never produced an album as good as DollDollDoll. Even on an individual track basis []pusher can't touch VSnares. No []pusher track is as good as Make Ronnie Rocket, Punk Kids and about 8 others I dont' have time to mention. It's no contest anymore, I was skeptical now I believe the following comparison to be true: VSnares > []pusher |

I thought Dolls Dolls Dolls kinda sucked actually..every squarepusher release is better than that one... Songs about my cats..on the other hand I admit..VSNares production and warped engineering is somewhat superior to SP.. but when it comes to songs there's no contest..Tom Jenkinson's a far better song writer... Funk does some totally brain rattling and twisted Knob Twidling and he's brilliant at it...and I like it tremendously..but when he tries to do songs...(as on the GLue Funk)...he just doesnt really grab my attention like Toms compositions.... personal tastes I guess |

merzbow is more hardcore than snares anyday...snares has way to many releases that side on the IDM spectrum of his talents. There's only a few of his stuff that's really hardcore (making orange things, prinf (not to sure about this one, havent' listened to it in forever), and music about my cats). Also, Snares' is structured...you can't get more hardcore than purely random distorted chaos schreeching and swirling thoughout your speakers. I bet everyone who's contributed to this argument can listen to Snares with minimal disconfort...but put on some merzbow cd's back to back...u'd easly wish it was snares...simply, not as pleaseing (to many) as snares... |

i dunno...i personally think these ____vs____ threads are kinda dumb... but having said that ...merzbow has a good 20 years on snares..plus, he's made soundtracks to japanese snuff films...thats rather hardcore... venetian snares' stuff is pretty harsh...but merzbow is downright brutal |

Nanotech,good explanation on distinguishing both projects.....Agreed 500% with you on how Merzbow is more hardcore than VenetianSnares....Even though VS does lots of tweaking in their live performances,it's a little structured......But Merzbow,I like him but can listen to just one cd per week,it's way to weird/noise,but like it still.......=) |
