Last night...............!!!!!

Last night I went to an event in Newcastle called No Dexx
(http://no-dexx.net/). It was in the basement of an art
gallery close to the city centre, and it was well good. A
mate of mine called Ben Moneypenny played a really good live
set using samplers, laptops, a stylophone and some
circuit-bent kiddy synths, Touch and Tells and Speak and
Spells.

Lektrogirl headlined - she's on Rephlex. I think she just
DJ'ed CDs, no live stuff, but it was quite cool anyway - she
was playing some class tunes including Windowlicker, no
less.

What was pretty weird was that the tickets they sold for the
night were floppy disks with the name of the night printed
on the label. They asked you to put data on the disk and
tick a box if you had done so. Anyway, I stuck a few photos
on, including a photo of me, a photo of my mate, and the
manicminer icon I use
(http://www.yorklabs.co.uk/manicminer). There was a huge
projector with loads of trippy imagery on, and at one point
the photo of me came up! It was well weird, a huge picture
of my face. It was a very strange feeling. They put the
manicminer logo up for ages and even started animating it.
It was pretty crazy.

Also, they had a Commodore 64 and a ZX Spectrum at the
sides, and you could play games on them, which was also
pretty cool.

One thing I found out from my mate: apparently none of the
DJs got paid for last night, including Lektrogirl who had
travelled all the way up from London. It must be really
hard to make a living from IDM.....

I forgot to mention one part actually.....

I had quite a few beers, and while Lektrogirl was DJing, I
ambled over, shook her hand and said "I'm well into Rephlex,
me".

I think I probably appeared to be a bit of a twat.

WoW!

I really love the idea of having them put images onto a
floppy disk and having your stuff projected onto their
screen!!

Yeah man. It was good.

I wasn't trying to chat Lektrogirl up though. I have a
girlfriend already and one's more than enough for me.

I was just being a bit of a ligger really. Which is equally
tragic, I suppose.

Jand's post just reminded me of another track played by
Lektrogirl last night : Phi*1700(u/v) by Muziq.

No more comments?

Is anybody here a fan of Lektrogirl?

Does anybody here use www.micromusic.net?

I sized up the body of your story and decided to briefly
glance at a few of the words instead of reading it, but was
unable to extract anything understandable from the few words
I glanced at.
