as you may have heard i accidentally uninstalled the driver
for my video card... (ATI 3D Rage Pro)
however my previous attempts to re download this driver have
failed... unless im doing something wrong... i install it...
i get a couple illegal operations... but my computer doesnt
seem to register its there...

...im still looking at 16 colours and 480x640 and its
driving me crazy i cant navigate shit... is there at least
SOMETHING i can do to improve my situation until i can find
out how to fix this? is there any kind of multi purpouse
drivers? anything?

pleasepleaseplease helpme

your installation cd should work.
There is also the ATI website which you can d/l everything.
When I was using 98 it had a lot of problems, but then with
2k and now with XP it's working perfectly.

Control Panel --> system --> expand Display drivers -->
doubleclick on the first driver under it --> driver tab -->
update driver --> select the correct driver or maybe you can
select a generic SVGA driver to make things more visible
while you find a proper driver
