Maybe this has been done before, but here it is again...
my absolute favorite is of course Peter Gabriel... his voice just sounds so beaten and torn, and in dispair... it's incredibly emotional to me...
other favorites of mine: Bone, David Gray, Roland Orzabal (Tears for Fears babee :) ), Youssou Ndour (sp?), Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, That guy from Coldplay, Matthew Good...

he raps melodically and calmly. from your posts i don't think you've explored hip-hop enough, there're so many different rapping styles.

Yeah, I always liked Snoop's style. I also like Big Mike, Crimeboss, MJG, and Too $hort's style.
As far as singers, I have an affinity for female vocalists. Bjork, Beth Orton, Dido, etc. I have always liked Marilyn Manson's voice, too.

that bit between aesop rock and el-p at the end of "delorean" is so dumb
"MCFLLLLLLLLLY!!!!!!"
also you misspelled lauryn. you named some really good ones, that's the only reason i'm giving you a rough time.

I don't like it when Aesop does stuff with El-P, it never turns out right, I think his early stuff was much better. The Def Jux sound (good as it is) doesn't match his flow type properly.

I like the raw feel of Ian Curtis' voice. Before the time of super Lexicons and harmonizers.
There's a track on the Swordfish soundtrack called 'Get out of my life now', which has my favorite type of female singing. I like the way it's mixed and compressed quite up front in the mix.
It's by Paul Oakenfold and Planet Perfecto.
